Has anyone heard of these schools?

1) Waterloo
2) Toronto
3) McGill

They're top engineering schools in Canada but I'm wondering what thier reputations are in America.

They're top engineering schools in Canada but I'm wondering what thier reputations are in America.

I've heard of them, but I don't know anything about them. I just recognize the names.

I have heard of McGill, I think it is nicknamed "The Harvard of Canada"?

I did not however know that they were the top engineering schools in Canada.

yea, I heard McGill was nicknamed like that too. I have cousin who went to McGill as a pre-law major and I knew several good students in high school who were willing to move to Canada to study at McGill.

Yes I have heard of McGill as well.

Yes, those 3 schools are pretty much the best for engineering in Canada. Waterloo excels at computers/electronics, seeing as how that's the only Canadian university that Bill Gates bothers going to to give talks.

One of the best-known concrete profs in the nation went to Toronto. He's a cool guy, and really knows his stuff.

I know that Waterloo and McGill are both good, too, but I honestly am not sure which American schools they're roughly comparable to.

I don't know much about their engineering schools, but they do have good reputations along with very low tuition.

Toronto has a very good engineering school. 3 of my GSI's and one of my professors went there, and they all boast about it =P.

A McGill student punched Harry Houdini so hard his appendix ruptured which caused his death. That's all I know about it. Isn't University of British Columbia or Laval University (French speaking) supposed to be good too?

anyone have any idea of what american schools the above would be equal to?

case western maybe?

Are you trying to get a job in the US? I think they are recognizable names but mainly among the college aged crowd. McGill has sort of become a cheaper but quality alternative to college in the US. I'd say they are maybe akin to good state schools like Maryland, and Michigan but its subjective.

I have heard of McGill and Toronto and I know for a fact that they have an excellent engineering program.
