Has anyone here regret his or her decision to apply ED?

(I am obviously too late to apply most anywhere ED since I'm not even a senior.)

Anyway, when I do get the chance to apply, I want to be able to fully inform myself on the ED system. I would like to know if someone who at first really wanted to go to one college but now regrets having been accepted and being forced to attend there for any reason such as future debt or that the college is not his/her first choice anymore.

Later, I would like to apply ED to Duke since I am quite simply in love with the school for several reasons: beautiful campus, diversity, chance to explore different environment, top tier academics, DUKE BASKETBALL!, and other minor reasons such as blue is my favorite color. I think I would have a decent shot if I were to apply as ED next year. Also, I know ED is a way to express interest for Duke and greatly increases my chances of being accepted. However, I don't want to drown in financial debt after college.

Has anyone regretted their choice to apply ED for that matter?

I thought I would be a loyal Princetonian, then I flirted with a ton of other schools(including my good, old state school) before being consumed by Brownies.

So, probably yes.

Then you need to find out NOW what your family’s EFC is.

And, you need to find out how much your parents are willing to pay each year.

If there are any holes/gaps/uncertaintly about funding, do not apply ED.

A student cannot borrow a lot. They need co-signers for big loans. Many parents can’t/won’t co-sign.

^For most schools, though, you can get out of ED if you have proven financial need that they cannot meet. You obviously need to check with each school, but many do it that way.
