Exactly what the title says; I know the "recommended deadline" was the 15th, but has anyone still not submitted theirs yet? I just did a few minutes ago. Do you think it'll effect my chances?

i still havnt submitted my supplement, though i submitted the common app a while ago.. i plan on submitting it tomorrow... i really dont think its that big a deal.. i know someone who submitted there'd literally 5 mins b4 the deadline (jan 1) and they still got in

oops, i never saw that recommended deadline thing...i guess i better hurry up

haven't submitted yet...or finished essays....working on it though but Harvard won't get it pobably untill the night of Jan 1st! oh, well its still before deadline, so who cares, no? :)

the recommended deadline is just for them to be able to sort through stuff sooner so you can get your interview faster. I doubt it has any real affect on your admissions chances...I haven't submitted mine yet either btw

me either lol I'm kind of scared maybe haha

I haven't submitted mine either.

I haven't submitted mine yet..

yikes i haven't sent in my personal statement yet (cuz someone at the admissions office told me to submit everything minus my personal statement so that they could start a file for me)

... maybe i should've sent everything together cuz now i'm super-scared that they'll lose my stuff.

Haven't sent it in.

nop.. I plan to do it today

haven't submitted, got into Stanford early so been procrastinating.

Will probably be submitting Jan 1, hopefully sometime in the morning.

I'll probably send mine in on Dec. 31, and then go out and have a fabulous time for New Year's. I have a feeling that the morning of the 1st is probably not the best time to be tired and such and worrying about a Harvard application.

Totally agree with j07's plan, haha. Only, I have 10 apps left to send in by the first, so we'll see how that goes. XD

Knightmair.. I'm in the exact same situation lol

I totally forgot they had a recommended deadline.. argh..

the 15th deadline is just a safe measure to make it more convenient for them. and i thought u had to hand in the common app and supplement together to be considered a real applicant?

You do have to hand them both in together.. I don't know who has said otherwise, but I'm positive that's the case.

Togther is what- within 10 minutes?

I'm not sure if this is the case with Harvard, but when other colleges ask for the common app and supplement "together", they just mean that they won't consider you to have applied until you have submitted both pieces.

Ellmtree's correct. Harvard doesn't consider you an applicant until they have both pieces, so essentially, say, sending the supplement in on September 1 but not sending in the common app until January 1 means that you've applied on January 1, not September 1.

In contrast, schools like Duke & Dartmouth ask for the supplement as soon as you're sure you're applying (or in Duke's case, you have to send it in before you find out about ED along with a check if you want an interview--hmm.)
