Hi there,

Just curious if anyone who applied, has received something from St. Mark's School? An email/ FedEx or snail mail letter? Haven't seen it mentioned here this morning and it's one of the two schools we are waiting on. If anyone has any info to share, it'd be most appreciated. Thanks and best of luck to everyone!! What an emotional day, all around, huh?

I haven’t received anything as well

Haven’t heard either - I assume they are mailing their decision? Didn’t get a notice about a web site decision letter.

Just now received an acceptance packet from SMS in the mail for my C, but we live just a few towns over from the school, so don’t despair if you haven’t heard yet. You might receive yours on Monday or Tuesday. They don’t email or post the decision anywhere, as far as I know. Good luck!

@honorarymom,

That’s awesome! Congratulations to your child and to your whole family! Sure hope our son will be joining your kid there next year! Thanks for posting.

So, just a regular letter in the mailbox…no “heads up” email alert that came first- to calm your nerves? Wow. And if you just got it and you are just a few towns over from Southborough, we might be hanging by a thread all week long, being out here in California!

Our son’s classmates are all finding out about their private school choices today too and so first thing next week, the topic of conversation at school will be, “Where did everyone get in?”

The fact that he was the only one in his class to ever apply to boarding school made things a little challenging for all of us, from the get go. Now, the possibility that he may be going to class everyday next week, still not sure of his plans for next year…that’s sure going to be fun. Oh well, not much to do about it except cross more fingers and toes and keep praying!

Again, WAY to GO on your child’s acceptance! What an awesome school!

All the best,
Goforprep

Thank you goforprep! Yes - just sent via snail mail with no other warning, so you might indeed have to wait until sometime next week for it to reach CA.

I think it is much more challenging for a kid to apply to BS if the vast majority of his/her peers go to public school, and BS is not a family tradition. Especially at the young teen age, when pressure to conform is high. My C has been ambivalent off and on throughout the application process, with pressure from friends to stick around, so I was so pleased when C was excited about the acceptance. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect! After seeing the excitement, now I think part of the waffling was fear of rejection. So C was trying not to want it too much.

Best of luck!

Totally know what you mean. Our son has been at a wonderful private K-8 here in town since kindergarten. His classmates are all wonderful kids and after watching so many of them grow up, it isn’t surprising to us (or to our son) that so many are choosing different paths when it comes to high school. The majority have applied to competitive day schools here in the bay area but some are planning to attend the local public high school. No matter where they end up, all will do amazingly well, I have no doubt.

Our son surprised us by asking for a different route for the next 4 years. He wanted a school that appreciated his passion for music but didn’t want to attend a school that was only labeled a “performing arts school” and he wanted a school where being excited about learning was fun and the courses would always be challenging. But he didn’t want just a typical prep school. What we found when we began looking at boarding schools truly opened our eyes to all the possibilities out there. So whatever happens…we’re better for the experience, I think.

Agree - the application process itself was a tremendous learning experience.

@honoraryamom, Congratulations!

Just received an email!
with a link to RSVP revisit days and a video.
We live across country so I’m sure the snail mail will take a while for us.

OK, yes we did just receive that email, too. Congrats, payn4ward!!

@Honorarymom and payn4ward…

Just got the link as we were outside on the porch discussing the pain of The Wait…

So excited…can’t even believe it!

Congratulations, goforprep!!

I was depressed the entire day because i got rejected from all my schools except St. Mark’s. Then I got the acceptance letter while I was eating dinner. My mom and I had to surpress to urge to scream out loud at PF Chang’s haha. Congrats honorarymom, payn4ward, and goforprep!

Congratulations to goforprep and coolguy77!

Nice way to end the long wait day!

So if I didn’t receive an email from St. Marks, I basically got rejected?!

We didn’t get anything either :(

St.Marks is the only school which hasn’t sent me a decision. Has anyone received an acceptance letter in the mail without a previous email?!

If anyone wants anymore information about St. Mark’s, feel free to PM me!
