I saw that morganjc had received something along these lines. Just wondering how many have received theirs, and what's in it. Thanks.

My daughter just received her admissons packet yesterday. It was funny as the outside of the envelope said "Are you in?" like her acceptance letter did. She looked at me and said, "I already got this." She had forgotten that she didn't get a packet from Tulane, just a letter. I haven't looked through it yet, but it looks just like the one my son got years ago.

My son received his the other day (1/21). It included detailed info about the
dorm options and a couple of forms to complete regarding deposts, etc.
There appear to be a couple of brand new dorms--great news as I've
heard their dorms (for freshmen at least) aren't among Tulane's best features.
Anybody know anything about dorm recommendations or insight on how it
actually works?

No mention of Accepted Student special events, which I thought was
something Tulane does offer.

I got mine a few days ago, too.

Curiouser, you are right - freshman dorms aren't that great. I do know they are building a new one designed for freshman with suites. Apparently the plan is to get some profs to move into apartments in the building with their families to make them more accessible to students.

Do you have to have paid the enrollment dep to get the housing info???? Or do all accepted students get it?

Does anyone know if people who did regular decision and people who did early decision will be considered for housing together? I want to room with a friend from high school, but he applied regular decision.

The enrollment form is in the same packet as the housing forms. Before this packet, all the student received was an acceptance letter.

I believe the new dorm will not be opened until 2006, not in time for this year's senior class.

The new dorm is slated to open for Fall semester of 2005 and I believe that there are enough incentives and penalties built into the contract that it will happen. I,ve been watching it go up on the web cam. There is another new dormitory slated for construction to begin as soon as they know this puppy is going to be done. This dorm is the replacement for Zemurray Hall. That dorm was named for the son of the late Sam "The Banana Man" Zemurray. The son was a Tulane graduate and was killed in WWII while Sam was one of the most colorful and successful businessmen in New Orleans or American History for that matterr. The Zemmurray family was a major donator to Tulane and to a number of other Universities. His daughter was a noted Anthropologist and philanthropist.

Freshmen are guaranteed dorm space. Housing will definitely do everything it can to pair you with whoever you want.

Monroe Hall is the seventh circle of Hell. The supposedly remodled the interior last Summer and I haven't seen it since then but there is only so much you can do with a high-rise dormitory full of 18 year olds let loose in the Big Easy! Some kids do survive it with GPAs intact but if Butler is an option (or a room at a homeless shelter for that matter) you might want to go for it. On the other hand it could be a life-long badge of honor like being a Titanic survivor if you make it through:-)

see the new dorm:

Sorry for the incorrect information; I thought I read both dorms were to be available Fall 2006. I hope they bulldoze Monroe; that would be the best for all!

vicks, my son was EA, his roommate and h.s. friend RD.

wish:
We haven't paid the enrollment fee and D received it about 10 days ago.

News - We communicated with the admissions office, and they are sending out the accepted student packets in waves. They said that S should receive his very soon.

tabbyzmom-I thought that was cute that you said they were sending them in waves, as in Green Wave!

I received my packet today (So. Cal)...too bad I won't be attending Tulane =/.

I'm thinking that I won't be, either...i'm leaning towards going back north(east), and I probably won't be getting any money from Tulane, which is a big problem.

tulane gives away 120 million a year which is quite a lot

I also just recieved some website thing where I can say if I decide to go to Tulane on there.

They also have a few other links which are accesible without a username and password
