We are still wondering when that comes out for fall.

I found this on the Fnancial Aid site =]

When is the soonest I can find out about my financial aid package of scholarships?

The 2008-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form may be filed after January 1, 2008. The University of Florida will use the results from the FAFSA to determine your eligibility for federal and institutional need-based programs. The on-time application date for financial aid is March 15 and applicants who meet this deadline are given priority for aid programs administered by the Office for Student Financial Affairs. Award notifications for on-time applicants are mailed in early April.

Financial Aid package is there today... Good luck!

Just saw mine posted online :D

Ours was emailed to us today. It just showed that she'd have availability to loans plus the bright futures. We will not be using the loans. Drat UF for not having more merit aid. :(

zebes

^
What's the bright futures? Is that the FL Scholars thing? 'Cause I didn't see it.

yup. not very good. cheap gators.

Bright Futures will be either Florida Academic Scholars (100%) or Florida Medalion Scholars (75%).

Xav,
Bright Futures is a statewide program, tied to the lottery, where florida students can either obtain an Academic Scholars or a Medallion Scholars tuition award, based on GPA, SAT/ACT scores, and community service hours. It used to be 100% tuition if you met criteria for the Academic Scholars, now it doesn't make it as school's have added in a "tuition differential." Bright Futures was not increased to cover the extra. Also, since it appears college tuition will be going up substantially in the next few years, we've been told that Bright Futures will not be increasing with it. So ... we should probably quit calling it 100% and 75% because it's not even that now, depending on where you go, and it's only going to decrease. It will still be tuition help, and every little bit helps, but it won't be the same as it was.

zebes

this is severely depressing news.....
To save bright futures (and the educational system) we need heighten the criteria for BR...i believe..that would help some.

Depressing? You can achieve the 75% tuition coverage for scoring rather poorly on the SAT and having a mediocre GPA. Sorry, the bar should've already been raised.

Oh, and on topic, if we submitted the FAFSA on March 15th, we're in the clear, right?

^You should be. I submitted the FAFSA a little late and still got everything today.

What do you mean got everything? Was it emailed to you or you received it in the mail? I checked my FAFSA status and it shows me nothing... unless I'm looking at the wrong thing.

We got the email as well as everything is listed on ISIS. Just Bright Futures and a couple of loans that we don't need or won't take.

if you are only applying for federal aid..
is there a deadline to submitting fafsa?

UF suggested that the FAFSA be submitted prior to March 15. Mine was submitted after, but my package was still available online at the same time as everyone else's. According to their finaid website, the absolute last day to submit a FAFSA is June 30th. It would be in your best interest to submit it as soon as possible.

do I need to fill out a UF Financial Aid Application? Or can I just apply through fafsa for federal help?

You fill out a FAFSA and list UF as a recipient. You should be able to check ISIS to see when UF has received it.

This is the guide to finaid from their website: http://www.sfa.ufl.edu/pub/pub/GAGuide0910.pdf

gimme, gimme, gimme.

disgraceful.
