Has Anyone received their financial aid refund yet?

check subject

No. They sent out an email to everyone’s neo account saying that there was some holdup because of their system and that they are hoping to get them out by the beginning of next week. I sure hope they do. I am owed like $3500, haha.

My daughters was direct deposited early last week on the 21st - a 2nd refund check was deposited Friday and a third should be deposited this next week, probably Monday.
Kicker is - her account shows we owe $55.00
WTH?

Well here is a direct copy of the email I got from SBS:

Waiting for a Refund from Texas A&M?

We Apologize:
Technical issues have resulted in delayed delivery of a number of student refunds. Those issues are the result of file processing in the new student system. All issues are being resolved and we expect refunds to go out on a daily basis beginning with the latest batch that was produced Wednesday night. We fully expect all refunds to be delivered on or during the first week of class and on a daily basis thereafter.

Get Your Refund Quicker and Avoid Checks Lost in the Mail:
The new Texas A&M University/Wells Fargo refund delivery system is working as expected and students who have made their refund preference are seeing the results in the form of faster refunds. If you have not already done so, please logon to “Howdy” to select your refund delivery preference. Once in Howdy go to “MyRecord (Fall 09)” and click on “Manage My Refund Preferences” within the “Billing Services” channel. Once there, use your UIN and the password sent by Wells Fargo to your University email account to login and complete the process. You only have to do this one time for your career at A&M, unless you change banks, which will require you to login and provide information about your new bank.

Because Wells Fargo is the University’s processor for refunds, students choosing to have their funds go directly into their Aggie Bucks Unlimited or another Wells Fargo account can expect to receive their funds the next business day. Electronic refunds to other banks must go through the ACH system and will take approximately two to three business days. Students choosing to receive a check are subject to the time it takes to produce, mail and deliver checks, which can take ten days or longer. It is highly recommended that students utilize one of the electronic delivery options to ensure the fastest and securest delivery of refunds.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Students that fail to select a refund preference will be assigned the printed check delivery option, and can expect significant delays in delivery over any of the electronic delivery options.

Due to technical issues, refunds posted to student accounts on August 26, 2009 will not be sent to Wells Fargo until the evening of August 27, 2009 so students with a Wells Fargo account can expect to see this refund on Friday, August 28, 2009.

Mine still hasn’t come yet either. I really don’t like how they are pushing Wells Fargo all of a sudden. For instance, if you have a Wells Fargo account, you will get your refund faster. Aren’t they not supposed to do things like that? For the fees WF charges, I think I will pass…

I got my very fast - direct deposit into my Bank of America checking account. You have to sign up for the refund to come the way you want it - so if you haven’t done that, maybe that is part of the problem.
Seriously - all my daughters financial aid has been deposited into my checking account in three differenct deposits - she received a scholarship and that was the first deposit - the 2nd was a tuition refund of some sort - then she received a 2nd scholarship last week and it was immediately slated for refund.

And the Wells Fargo Aggie Gold (or whatever it is called) is a free account if you sign up for it at a Bryan/College Station branch.

This is the first year I have had trouble getting my money, it has always gone smoothly before. WF checking account is free? I will have to look into that. Normally, their fees are outrageous for kids starting out. My rent’s due tomorrow and my money is still MIA…

Oooops! Spoke too soon. All funds are in my account as of midnight today…
