Just like the title states, has anyone got their decisions yet from Barrett for early appliers or do all decisions go out on January 9th like the website says.

My son was admitted around mid November. He is NMSF, so I don’t know if that makes a difference. It seems like Barrettt likes NMFs. The other Barrett hopefuls we met when we visited last week had not heard yet - but they applied later than my son.

Okay, and do you know how long it took for your son to get his decision. Like when did he apply?

He did his ASU application early - in the summer (July or August). He did the Barrett app first wk of Nov. I think the LORs were rcvd & app was complete as of 11/11. He got acceptance letter 11/13 - so only 2 days.

It was very strange and nail biting the way they let you know about the Barrett decision. S got an email saying “a decision has been rendered” on his Barrett application. The email landed in the “Promotions” box of his email acct- so he almost missed it! You may want to go to your ASU tracker to check. We didn’t notice the tracker changing until after he got the email and tried to discover the “rendered decision”. I don’t think he expected anything to happen that fast.

Here is how it looks if you click on the “Status of Barrett App” link

Congratulations You have been admitted to ASU!

The indented lines after the “Barrett Application Status” appear when you click on the “Barrett Application Status”

There are check boxes in front of each of the indented lines. I assume you can follow along to see how the app is progressing through the process - the check marks appear in the boxes as it moves through the process.

ALso look in your email (all boxes to for the email) giving you heads up of a “rendered decision”. The “notification letter” part of Decision Rendered line in your tracker will be a link to go to yet another page where you can finally dig out and open the decision letter. Sort of awkward way of finding out. Son’s decision letter link was buried on this page showing the contact info for his LOR writers.

Good Luck!

Sorry - thought I would add that we visited ASU/Barrett last week and got to meet Dean Jacobs. He said a couple of times that Barrett does a holistic review and it’s not just stats, which I think is good for most students. In contrast, UMN honors goes mostly on stats (there is no separate app for honors there); their app is similar to ASU app - a 5 minute biographical and “just the facts” type app.

Damn, just two days. I’ve been waiting 4 weeks, and I have seen the asu tracker…every day

I think it’s the NMSF/NMF thing that made it so quick. Barrett and some other schools seem to actively recruit them. It is a little silly IMO since it’s really just one test, but we’ll take it since it’s offered. Obviously most of the students at Barrett and other honors programs are not NMFs - but they’re all strong students like you. HOpefully you hear soon - maybe the pace will quicken once we’re past the priority deadline. That’s how it seems to go at some of these schools. Good luck!

My D is also NMSF and received a quick acceptance into Barrett. She had already done her ASU app, and her Barrett app was just waiting for a second LOR. When that LOR was finally submitted, D was accepted into Barrett within about 24 hours.

I am not NMSF and received a decision in late October. I applied in late July and gained admission into ASU in mid September. Best of luck! :-)

You applied to Barrett in July? I thought the applcation for barrett didnt open until September?

I received my decision a week ago. I sent all my materials into ASU before November 1st (they said that I would receive a decision from general admissions by the 15th). I wasn’t accepted into ASU until the 22nd. But two days later I got my Barrett decision. My friend also waited about two days after being accepted in to ASU to here from Barrett.

I think once you hear from ASU it is only a matter of days.

Best of luck!

PS I wasn’t a NMS of any sort, so I’m not sure how much that affects the time it takes to hear back.

My son is not a NMSF. He completed the Barrett application in early November and was accepted in three days.

Wow, I just realized my son has NOT received an answer from Barrett yet. For some reason I thought he was already accepted, but when I checked today, he is not! I had my son call over to Barrett and they said that he was in a priority pool of applicants for review and that he would have a decision by next Friday. He applied before November 15! This seems like a really long wait for an answer. My son is not NMF, but his SAT is 2250 and his unweighted GPA is around 3.94. And we are AZ residents. I know Barrett is a top-notch program, but is it really that competitive that he might not get in???
@chris17mom I can’t believe that he wouldn’t be accepted.
@STEMFamily Thanks, that makes me feel better. I’m wondering if it’s just a timing thing…they were probably closed during the holidays, and I can’t quite recall the date he was actually accepted to ASU, but maybe that held up the process a bit. It’s still nerve-wracking though! I was counting on ASU as a solid and affordable safety school for him, but I can’t imagine him there without Barrett. My son is telling me to chill out, it should be fine, and he’s probably right, so I will try!
@chris17mom I’m in the same situation as your son. I was accepted into ASU in early November and submitted my Barrett application on November 15th and havn’t recieved any notification on acceptance yet.
If it makes you feel any better, they told my son yesterday that he was in a “priority pool” of applications that will receive an answer next Friday. It sounds like you submitted your app right around the same time, so you are probably in that pool too. Good luck!
I just got my online acceptance letter!
just got my acceptance letter to PARTY UP IN HERE
My son got accepted too! Whew…I was getting nervous! Congratulations everyone!
