Has Anyone Scheduled for Alumni Interview?

Some of my friends told me that they have already scheduled for their alumni interviews.
I have not been contacted for one, yet.

Has anyone already scheduled?

Submitted supplement oct 18 in Seattle area ( probably not as many applcants) still waitin for a call

My daughter submitted app on the 16th. Called for interview on the 17th. She has already had her interview. But I think you can get called up until November 10. I read that somewhere.

OhioMom2, did you call for an interview? -or- did a Duke alumni call your daughter?

A Duke Alum called her.

just scheduled mine for next monday :))))

still waiting. submitted on the 17th

Does anyone know how likely it is to get an interview? We didn’t turn in early for nothing…

Interviews for ED can be conducted through November 15. I wouldn’t worry if you haven’t been contacted yet. There’s a designated alumni interview chairperson for each region that has to assign each applicant to an alumnus and then that alumnus has to contact you. Thus, there is sometimes lag either in the assignment or the alumnus is busy right now and will contact you when he/she has more availability. It’s also of course subject to how many alumni interviewers there are in your area, but there’s still plenty of time so not being contacted yet doesn’t suggest that you won’t be contacted in the next couple weeks.

I just got contacted today. Best of luck to everyone who has their interviews coming up and for those who haven’t been contacted, don’t lose hope!

Daughter got her call yesterday and interview is scheduled for Sunday…

submitted oct 18th (seattle area also). have not received call yet…

I submitted my entire application in September and still have not received a call nor an e-mail (Western New York).

Submitted common on the 19th. Haven’t heard

Maybe they’re waiting really late…

I just got a call from an alum today about an interview!

Hi Taganm,

First of all, as an applicant, you don’t have to do anything now. The alum in charge of interviews in your area will get a list of all candidates and should assign the students to other alums. The alum assigned to you will contact you by email or phone.

[Duke University Admissions: How to Apply](http://www.admissions.duke.edu/jump/applying/apply_interviews.html)

That’s the link to Duke’s admissions page regarding interviews. It’s helpful information. They say that most ED applicants will be contacted in Oct or Nov. It’s still EARLY to get contacted. Once alums get the assignments, it’s up to them to make the contact, and sometimes they are a little slow on the draw. Duke also has a disclaimer there saying that they can’t 100% guarantee that applicants (even those who made the interview deadline) will get an interview. There simply has to be enough interviewers in your area. I do think it’s worth a call to the admissions office to check, if you haven’t been contacted in a week or so. As a Duke interviewer, I have been contacted by friends of kids I’ve interviewed before who want an interview. I never mind that and have always called the person in charge of our region when that happens and ask them to assign me that candidate. So if you have any connection to a Duke interviewer in your area (that you don’t know personally) you could try that. I’m not sure if everyone would receive that as welcoming as I do, but you could. Remember, Duke won’t hold it against you if you don’t get an interview. Good luck.

Assuming that is supposed to read “kids of friends,” technically you’re not supposed to interview somebody you already know, especially the child of a friend. It’s a conflict of interest. Duke also tells its interviewers that they cannot interview ANYBODY the same year their child is applying. Maybe your chairperson isn’t paying attention, but it’s against the policies set forward in the Duke interview process. You can certainly write them a recommendation, though, if you know them well enough. But not an evaluative interview. Duke tells interviewers explicitly to NOT even google or facebook the applicant in an effort to keep them as unbiased as possible.

Can anyone who has interviewed or has any advice/tips on the dos and don’ts of the alum interview inc. what to wear please advise.

I have my alum interview this thursday.

Thanks a bunch!

^ I also wonder who is supposed to pay, but at this point I fear I won’t even get an interview… Sigh
