I haven't been able to do it yet, despite having had my e-filed return accepted by the IRS on Feb 4th. Wondering if anyone else has done it successfully?

I’m having the same problem; IRS isn’t recognizing my return. This is my first time with this financial aid process, and I am stressing out. Taxes accepted by the IRS on Feb 4th, no refund yet, and no record retrieve for FAFSA. I thought I was so on top of this, but now it will be a push to meet the March 1st deadline. Any veterans wanna talk a gal off the ledge (figuratively speaking)?

I filed on 2/4 also. I think it’s just too soon. It takes the IRS about 2 weeks to process the return and get it to the system that transfers it to FAFSA. Give it another week before worrying about it. Historyteach, there’s still plenty of time until 3/1. I have read that more returns are being filed early this year so it’s taking a couple more days this year.

I have a small refund and the “Where’s My Refund” IRS page isn’t working either, I keep getting a message that they don’t have my info. Googling around, it seems a lot of people are having that problem also. I assume they are related issues…IRS slowness.

I did submit my FAFSA long ago, even went back and corrected the #s after I filed. But I was hoping to link to the IRS too.

The company that makes tax software I use (TaxACT) has been reporting for awhile that the IRS is experiencing delays in processing tax returns.

I would not count on the IRS having their act together in time for you to get your FA forms in by March 1. Just fill them in based on the return you filed, following the directions of what line on your tax form to get things from. The income and tax part of FAFSA is pretty simple.

Yes my mom was able to do it about a week after she filed the taxes. She filed taxes 1/31 and did the linking 2/5

I filed on the 7th and got my return last night

saintfan, refund or FAFSA link?

I used free file fillable forms for a 1040 and submitted on Feb 6th, was accepted on the 7th and the IRS-FAFSA link was available on the 10th. It was very easy to update the FAFSA and everything went smoothly.

Nope…hasn’t worked for me. Each time I connect I get a “a technical error has occured.” I’ll keep trying whenever I have an opportunity.

We filed on 1/29 and have not been able to retrieve our info, but I do not know if this is because we had to snail mail our business (self employed) taxes, although efiled personal.

H just checked IRS and our taxes have been “accepted”.

We had a deadline of 2/2 for one school, and another of 2/15 for another. This isn’t good news that we haven’t been able to link to the retrieval.

Ha, I knew if I posted that I couldn’t…when I went back it would work. And it did. Nothing changed (because I used the numbers off the tax form) but now I’m officially “linked.” My “taxes” were accepted on the 7th…so one week ago.

Weird. 5 days after mine and i still can’t get it t work. I’ll try again in a couple of days I guess.

yes, we linked it successfully. we filed taxes on 1-29 and 10 days later I was able to link the fafsa to the IRS site.

The link keeps timing out on me no matter which browser I use. Is anyone else having that problem?

I am also getting a time out message. Safari browser says the IRS server is not responding.

Same here. I think the IRS server is too busy at the moment, probably due to peak hours. Will try again later this evening. Good luck.

Yes. Filed 2/7, refund received today and linked to FAFSA earlier this week.
