Has anyone taken a semester off or gone abroad? Please share your experience!

I'm soooo sick of being here and I just need to get out and leave.

Here are my options:

Study abroad if I get into my program. This would be ideal. But I would still be taking classes which might be a drag and not give me the whole "year off" psychological effect.

Stay in Berkeley and take easy classes (none to do with my major), and maybe work.

Continue with my degree and hope that upper divs will make my life better

I would consider taking a semester off even if I dont go abroad but I dont know what I would do. So share your experiences or ideas! I just want to make myself believe that I'm here for a reason and find my goal.

Well, what exactly is making you feel so restless or unhappy that you need to ‘get out?’ Once you pinpoint that it’ll be easier to figure out what you want to do. If it’s just issues with the workload or grades, taking easier classes or studying abroad might be helpful. But, if it’s just a problem with your overall life in college or if you feel you just don’t click with the atmosphere here, maybe consider transferring.

But if you do end up taking a semester (next semester?) off, you should start planning now on what you want to do. If you plan on going home, maybe contact local businesses/government offices and see if you could intern for them, and/or try and get a paid job somewhere.
