Has anyone used the TAG program

TAG (Transfer Admission Guarantee) Program?

my counselor at my cc told me about it but it was real brief. How does it work???

For what UC or for what school is the TAG?

(below is based on asumption you are talking about UCs)
There are guranteed admission programs for San diego, Irvine, Santa Cruz, Riverside and Davis and maybe merced but not certain on the last one

Usually all you have to do is complete a set amount of classes with a set gpa, between 2.5 and 2.8 depending on the UC. For san diego its 2.8. Then depending on the college within the school that you apply to you might have additional requirments.

If you specify what UC you want to see the agreement for I can look it up for you.

UC Santa Cruz
Santa Clara University
Cal Poly

your help is very much appreciated malishka31

I know UCSC does have a TAG program with most colleges, especially ones that are in its area, however my CC in San diego also had the program with it.

Santa Clara - is neither UC nor CSU and i think is private? They might have some transfer agreements but not gurantees with the local community colleges.

Cal Poly from what i recall is one of the top CSUs so they might or they might not have an agreement.

What you need to do is go to your community colleges transfer center and make an appointment to sign one of these agreements. Most agreements need to be signed a WHOLE YEAR in advance. And deadlines are right around Now for next WINTER, you most likely missed the fall 2008 deadlines already.

If your CC has a good website they might have more details of the tag online but usually you have to go to the transfer center /counceling center to see the details of it.

this is an example of a TAG agreement a San diego college has with UCSD.
It shows the type of courses needed and the extras for each different college of UCSD.

see if your community college has something similar online

Santa Clara University has Transfer Guides specific to each of a number of ccc's: Undergraduate Admission - Transfer Guides. I don't believe any of them are guarantees of admission, but the school obviously has a receptivity to such transfers.

You might also want to post your question on the UC Transfer subforum, since a lot of UC/CSU-knowledgeable posters frequent that part of the board.

i will be filling out a tag transfer agreement in fall of 08' to most likely UC Santa Cruz or UC davis. UC santa cruz gpa is 3.0 and UC davis is 2.8-3.1 so it should be pretty easy to maintain my grades and get into both

in anytime in the near future will UC berkely get involved in the tag program?

how come the Tag program is not popular??? i don't hear many other people talking about it but it seems quite useful when transferring
