I wanted to get some feedback on this college counselling service based in the Bay Area. My son will be a freshman in the fall in a High School in San Francisco. He is avid programmer and has some ML/AI projects under his belt and wants to go to a good computer science program for college. I am starting to research counselors. Him being Indian and applying for CS is going to be be a bit hard and so i want to support him in every way I can… Yelp and Google has rave reviews for them, but wanted to get some first hand info. If anyone has good recommendations for a counsellor that you recommend, please let me know.
Did not go to college here, so any help would be much appreciated.
I am in no way qualified to answer. But I think hanging around A2C in reddit for a while honestly helps a lot and gets you most of the info that a counselor would give.
I feel like a counselor is only really necessary for essays, since they know how to make it compelling. And if they were AOs, especially for elite schools, thats another reason to have then as a counselor since they know what kind of application (ECs, essays) are compelling and will make AOs fight for them during committee.

CC is not Yelp. We do not promote private, for profit businesses here.
To suggest that A2C provides great free college advice is, ummm, very generous. Most of the people there are students. I am biased, but I don’t think there is any question that the advice you can find here on CC is superior to college advice you’ll find anywhere else for free on the web.
To the OP, I suggest posting on local Facebook pages for recommendations. Closing.
