Has CC Died?

The amount of postings has gone way down on CC lately. Should we officially turn over the Board to U of C 2011 prospies (wherever they may be)? Or is this a temporary lull?

Two threads down:

The Phoenix has risen from the ashes.

RIP uchicago board on cc. It's sad, but it has indeed happened.

I think the dearth of posts is due to the fact that many of the CC members have been visiting UChicago lately (dorm previews, etc.), which would keep them away from the computer. Come on, guys, keep posting when you can!

2011 prospies, are any of you out there?

yes, but i'm too excited about summer session 2 be on CC, i'm also more worried about the ACT, my highest is a 29 thus far :(
My school gives a test next tuesday, so i'll be studying my little heart out for them.. even though u really can't study
and.. i have journalism sectionals.. but u 2010 ccers.. plz come back to look at essays.. and i'm so jealous that ur all done with the stupid college admissions process.. while i'm just starting ... tears

well, my theory is that the people who were admitted to uchicago have been posting on the uchicago admittance "thick envelope" website

CAN I HEAR A BUMP

nobody posts on the uchicago boards (well, some people did but not a lot and a lot of what went on there was wierd).

check it out though, eventually people will post there and they will be different than the people here.

Well those who got rejected probably stopped visiting. For many CC is just a site to get info on a college and those who feel like they got enough stopped visiting...

I still come because Im waiting for my decision (transfer) and I have nothing else to do.

well i could tell everyone a story...

plz do tell i'm bored

well as you can tell by my name, i am an american attending high school in canada... so i recently gave a speech for the school's competition about being an american in canada... and it was funny- the audience loved it, but i guess the judges didnt haha... so the long and short of it is that i now feel bad because i may have somehow infringed upon the sanctity of this 100- year- old competition and i feel somehow anti- traditional to the point of hurting the tradition... i guess thats not much of a story, but i needed to get that off of my chest...

wow, i guess i understand the whole living in a foreign country thing, i lived in germany for 4 yrs, till i was 8

and i guess english is my second language

It can't be as awful in effect as you make it out to be-- surely even tradition is allowed to be fun at times, whether the judges recognize that or not? Out of curiousity-- and feel free to ignore if you so wish-- what part of Canada are you in?

st catharines... so its not that deep into canada... but i guess ignoring tradition may have been worth it simply to ignore tradition

Hi! Ii'm new to this whole discussion forum thing... I signed up a while ago, but this is my first post. I've basically just been lurking for a few months. ;)

But anywho, I don't think the board is necessarily dead... I'm interested in applying to U of C for the class of 2011. (I'm a high school junior now.) Even though we have to apply in the fall, many students in my class haven't put a lot of thought into colleges yet. It may just be that there is a temporary lull in the boards that will pick up again in a few months. :)

hey does anyone knw if we can apply in the summer because i know interviews start in the summer...??? or is it sep 15 like everywhere else???

interviews start in the summer? I know that the common app comes out in June (I think), so maybe? If you find out, please tell me.

Yeah, the application comes out in the summer. Maybe in July? I don't remember.

you dont have to apply before interviewing.

Us transfers are here too!
