Cool, Jonathan1! Are you also going to Andover for high school, or are you just going for summer school?

I'm going to a local prep school next year, but I may end up applying to boarding school next year. It all depends on how I like the school I'm going to next year and the whole "boarding school experience" at Andover during the summer.

There's a difference between "credit" and "placement." It may be possible that summer math won't earn you credit towards graduation, but it might help move you further along on the track. For instance, if you haven't taken Geometry or Algebra II yet, perhaps you could take one or the other this summer. Exeter may not give you "credit" -- but would they insist on you taking that course over again? Or might they adjust their placement accordingly? Do you follow?

Exeter and Andover have math placement tests. They are general [not specified according to which course the student wants to test for], but I believe they help determine which math class you'll be placed into. I talked with Andover about this. I can post what Andover specifically said about math placement, if you wish.

Do not worry as long as you have contacted the school to let them know it is on the way. One year, as I stated earlier we did not do the revisits until april 8th and 9th, and there was no way the contract would arrive on the 10th. Barely had time to decide.

Phillips Academy does not accept credit for distance learning courses or programs such as EPGY, CTD or CTY. We do, however, require newly matriculated students to take a placement test for mathematics. After reviewing placement results and in consultation with an academic advisor and chair of the math department, students are assigned to the math course that best matches their current level of study.
