Has financial aid for 2007-2008 come out yet?

If not, then when is it expected to come out for continuing students?

"Financial Aid Award Status

We're sorry, you do not have an offer of financial aid at this time.

You can track the status of your application on Bear Facts.
Please contact the Financial Aid Office regarding your status."

Has anyone's come out yet?

Mine has been up since last Friday...

It sucks, but it's there...

Speaking of sucky financial aid, does writing letters ever persuade them to reconsider your aid?

"Speaking of sucky financial aid, does writing letters ever persuade them to reconsider your aid?"

No clue.

Has financial aid come out for continuing students yet?

It's out.

Speaking directly about the financial aid didn't help. They wouldn't budge at all! BUT then a few months later they decided to increase my cal bears scholarship amount! This was my freshmen year.

Interesting financial aid next year.

What's BERKELEY UG SCHOLARSHIP?

Just a generic undergraduate scholarship. I think it's both need-based and merit-based. The full description is somewhere on the aid office website. I actually filed my 06-07 FAFSA just last month and they gave me $3000 of UG scholarship. I did my 07-08 FAFSA on time and they reduced my UG scholarship to $900 and gave me workstudy instead :o

Found it, thanks.

Under missing information, it says:
"The Verification of Family Members in College Form is missing."

Does this actually change my financial aid offer? If not, I'm not going to bother filling it out.

It looks like Cal took away the $8000 UC grant-in-aid I had last year. Did anyone receive a UC grant-in-aid this year?

"Does this actually change my financial aid offer? If not, I'm not going to bother filling it out."

If your EFC is high, this will help a lot. But I suspect that they have already assumed you have x number of family members in college already, so now you have to verify it to maintain your grant amount.

What does this mean:
"Parent Income Verification document is missing"

Yes it will change your financial aid offer - for the worse - if you do not do it. For instance if the parent part of the EFC is 10,000 and there are 2 students in college the parent EFC is divided between the 2 students so 5,000 each. If your financial aid package is based on the half share of parent EFC and you do not submit the verification then the EFC would revert back to 10,000 and your financial aid package would be reduced by $5,000.

mathtastic_nerd:

i got the same message. they should have sent you a letter home that requires you to fill out some income stuff.....if not, email the financial aid person and ask them to give send one to you (i actually emailed them TWICE because i thought it got lost in the mail somewhere....heh.) Berkeley is VERY slow. lol.

Crap, lol, i got in through appeals and i need to make my decision by the 11th, so i probably won't know soon enough to aid me in my decision?

If you need the veirfication of family members in college, you either have to prove your sibs are in college or you have to submit in writing that your situation changed from when you filed the FAFSA...it can take several weeks to process the change so do it right away
