Has one B+ ruined my chances at a good college?

I am a senior at a public high school and Over the past three years, I have received all As except one B+ first semester of Algebra 2 Honors because I was being reckless and not very smart. Since then I have taken 2 APs sophomore year and 5 APs Junior year, including AP Calculus AB. This year I’m taking AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics, with As in those classes as well. Has my one B+ in a relatively easy class ruined my chances at a good college?

No.

No.

No.

Well, you’re a senior this year. Have you applied to “good” colleges yet? Have you heard back from them yet?

All three of my kids had at least 1 B+ and all were accepted to selective schools including Harvard and Yale - and they were entirely unhooked. I am on the selection team for both a selective fellowship and also a substantial merit scholarship. The applications for both require elements similar to college applications (with transcripts, test scores, essays, recommendations…). We browse the academic transcript to make sure it is strong. A couple of B+'s will not impact the application of a strong and impactful candidate any more than a perfect transcript and test scores can boost the application of a lackluster candidate. You are good!

I have applied, but I haven’t received whether I got in or not yet.

Even if your admission decision is pending, the B+ will not ruin your chances at any college.

where did you apply?
