With the FAFSA release date moving again, has this played a role in moving forward with ED or not so much?
For ED schools that use CSS Profile, FAFSA timing should not impact an ED decision provided the college’s NPC looks affordable, is accurate (confirm with school), and the family doesn’t have a situation that can lead to inaccurate NPC results (divorce, non primary residence real estate, farm, or business ownership, international student).
For ED schools that don’t use Profile, still run the NPC. Then talk with financial aid and ask them about the accuracy of the NPC and how and when they will be providing FA packages to ED admits.
You can also ask ED schools for a financial aid pre-read. Some do it, others don’t.
