Just wondering if any month is better than another when it comes to taking the SAT. It looks like they grade these on a curve, so is there a better time of year to take it? Worse?

I imagine the early spring ones are the best and the fall ones are the worst. The fall ones have a lot of seniors taking them, and June/May have a lot of repeat takers (from April and such).

well I took the SAT this year in january and the curve was REALLY easy. I got a 720 in math and got 5 wrong (1 was a grid in) 800 in CR with 2 wrong and 760 in writing with 3 wrong (12 essay). that's a considerably easier curve than the may/june tests I think.

I really don't think you can predict like that...like for instance the writing curve in June was easier than the Jan this year. I'd want to immediately say that the Oct. one is more difficult because everyone is taking it for their last shot, but then, the earlier ones are probably self-select, b/c a lot of the lower-scoring kids are just going to take it in Oct. and go with the flow.

You can't predict I don't think...it's ridiculous...you can predict however that if you felt a section was easy the curve is probably atrocious. LOL.

yeah i feel that january and april are good months

SATs have curves?

Yeah, the fall ones are for all those smartypants early action/decision kids who want a final shot at a great score. So the curve is harsher then.

Really? I thought curves were predetermined so it's pretty much all the same?

I've heard the curves are pre-made so no matter when you take it the curve has been preset. What I think is that collegeboard lets some college students to take the pre-test to gauge difficulty and build off there. But I must agree this curve this is really stupid. I think that there needs to be a standardization of the curve.

January has the gentlest curve. An acquitance of mine who got 150 or so on the psat managed a 1900 on teh SAT that month.

could someone who has taken the test in october tell us about the curve for that test?

I took it in October 2005. It was by far the easiest of the SATs this year.
Math curve was not so good but not as bad as other tests.
CR curve was a little harsh but the Writing curve in my opinion was great.

(wasn't this the test with the 4000 wrong scores?)
