Has this site actually helped anyone?

It has helped because it’s introduced me to better ways to study, better ways to prepare for big SAT/AP/etc tests, and better ways to look for colleges.

It’s hurt me because its another way for me to procrastinate, because it’s made me feel inferior to every other high schooler on the planet, and because its made me stress out about my grades.

It’s given me a lot of tips!!!:)

Hahah the title made me laugh a little. Partially because it’s a damn good question.

For the amount of time I actually spend on this site, I don’t think it’s “helped” me a ton. People have all been very helpful when I had questions, but I don’t think I have used it to its full purpose. That said, I’m still a sophomore.

Actually, it has helped put things in perspective for me, and by regularly checking this site I’m more aware of the opportunities around me even though I don’t get on here to directly look for them.

Yes, it gave me motivation to work harder than ever because I got to witness my competition firsthand  But really though, it has helped. I’ve learned a lot about financial aid and ways I could give an edge to my application. It also gave me a realistic idea about what schools I had a chance at because I wasn’t just reading what I wanted to see and applied to schools that I wanted to, not ones that this people on this site told me to.

Honestly, if blame this site for making you feel inferior and therefore affecting your applications in some way, you have got to get real. This site isn’t here to control your life; you make your own decisions and if you made several wrong ones you only have yourself to blame, just sayin’.

Not gonna lie, without this site I would know next to nothing about the college admissions process but at least now I can say I learned something in terms as whats important and whats not.

Plus I find the SAT section to be helpful when im studying (but I wish the ACT section had as much prep info as the SAT part of the site) and i find the summer program threads to be helpful as well.

But it does crush my confidence a bit to see I have major competition in the colleges that I wanna go to but that just shows me that I have to try to be a beast in everything I do.

I’m literally the college guru among my friends–all because of CC. I can’t even begin to list everything I have learned from this website. My guidance counselor is awesome–but clueless. Without CC, I do not think I would ever achieve my goals.

On the flip side, CC has killed my confidence. I feel like the only way I will ever get into an ivy is through ED–and even that is iffy. My sister is in shock as to how lowly I view my chances.

Strictly academically speaking, no. This really hasn’t done much for me. Let’s face it. Most of us already knew we weren’t actually going to get into Harvard, but coming on this site just affirmed it.

However, considering my extreme passion for music, the music major forum has immensely helped me on my path to possibly majoring in music.

Plus, I’ve gotten some good laughs and nice conversation along the way.
