Has Yale ever let a transfer in with low H.S gpa?

What I mean is my high school gpa is going to be pretty lame like 3.3, I have a 3.2 right now but I am going to work really hard and I know I can get straight A's next semester if I try (Just so you know I am a senior in high school right now) any ways I am going to go to Santa Barbara City College for two years and I will take as many honors classes as I can.

What I am asking is if I do outstanding in the next two years at a community college with lots of extracurricular, great Teachers rec's (Teachers love me), and a near perfect scores on my SATs (I test well) Do I have a fighting shot at being accepted into Yale or Stanford as a transfer? Has anyone ever gotten in with similar stats?

I just didn't take High school seriously and now that all my friends and intellectual equals are going off to Stanford and Yale I just can't believe how stupid I was to slack.

It's possible, but Yale and Stanford transfers are ALWAYS unlikely, unless your stats are perfect AND you're something nationally unique in terms of ECs. There are some excellent privates that are not Yale and Stanford that would probably offer you all the intellectual challenge you could handle anyway... so don't worry, one of my friends from UChicago for instance was from a community college.

yeah I know thats true... I guess I'm wondeing if its possible or if someone with similiar situations has gotten in before.

I know other ivies have let in people with 2.3 hs GPA. I don't know about Yale in particular

Well actually I don't know where I want to go yet (as a transfer) because I don’t know what I want to major in yet. I know that I LOVE law and have an aptitude for it. But as far as my major I was hoping to start taking classes and interning various places so I could get a feel for what I want to do and what I want to be.

Its possible, and you dont have to be a national champion in anything to do it. You do have to be pretty incredible though, lol.

well, considering how im banking on a HS gpa of 2.0 and attempting to transfer to stanford, i would assume that you're in a better position then i am.

however. i think what will make or break both of our essays is extraordinary achievement as REFLECTED in personal essays. just apply. if you dont get in, so what?..however. what you're saying is IF you do well in two years, IF you have great recs, IF you have perfect sat's..etc,etc,etc. dont worry about the ifs until you can get down all of them. focus on them for now; you cant just breeze through two years of college, expect to do outstanding, and land up at an ivy. if you want to be a hysivy student, work like one-and concentrate on the here and now.

With lower than a 3.2 GPA in high school, you (not any 'you' in particular) are not touching any Ivy as a sophomore transfer.

i'd have to say a sophmore transfer with a 3.2 HS gpa won't happen. Odds are they'll get enough 4.0's from other transfer students who had immaculate HS records to fill their classes.

I concur; however, as a junior transfer with a high GPA (and SAT?), pretty much every Ivy is in reach.

I would also suggest junior transfer to any top 20 college. Good luck!

yeah, a junior transfer would be much easier. but, to be competitive at any ivy, you need spectacular grades in hard courses.
