Has your financial aid letter been updated with the Academic Competitiveness Grant?

<p>I'm curious how my financial aid package would change. Hopefully, the university will not subtract the amount awarded by ACG dollar for dollar from the university grant (Cal Bears Scholarship).</p>

<p>Unlimitedx, do you have any more information regarding the ACG? Has the financial aid office said they will incorporate this grant into this fall's financial aid (even though the offer letter was received a long time ago)? I haven't received any information on it, although it is currently paying for my summer school tuition.</p>

<p>I checked mine, it's updated, apparently monies from my Cal Bears Scholarship weren't deducted I think. :)</p>

<p>ttgiang15, I really don't know... but from what I know it should be incorporated into this fall's financial aid (offer letter will be revised) for all students who qualify.</p>

<p>strykur, great news! what did the ACG take the place of? subsidized loans? unsubsidized loans?</p>

<p>It doesn't replace anything, it's just added in there. Then again, I've only checked my financial aid offer a few times before, so I may be mistaken.</p>

<p>By law, I have to report as DEPENDENT for next year because I am still 17 when school starts (yeah, it freakin blows).</p>

<p>AND, my parents would not pay for my college.</p>

<p>Is the ACG Merit or Needs based? And did you apply or how did you qualify?</p>

<p>You qualify if you can check mark one of the requirements as listed on the FAFSA. An email was sent out a few weeks ago telling students to update their FAFSA. It's need based and you have to maintain some GPA I believe.</p>

<p>The financial aid office is being such an *** about answering questions. But I suppose it's because they have to answer everything over and over again.</p>

<p>My financial aid letter has been fully updated, yay. Looks like I won't have to do work-study this year! :D</p>

<p>Instead of ACG, they gave me a SMART grant because I've been classified as an upperclassman.</p>
