hate my school! need to tranfer

Hey, im a student at Bocconi university in Milan, Italy. I just finished my first year and i realized just now that i want to transfer, but all deadlines for fall admissions are passed. I was thinking of transferring to a university i already was accepted at but turned down last year. I was told that possibly if i call up some of the school i was accepted at and ask if there is any space left they might take me. Also, since the system in europe is different, even if i transfer i might have to apply for freshman year to take required courses and just transfer my credits over.

My questions are: might the schools take me in if i was accepted last year if they still have space for me? would i have to re-apply or do they still have my application with my SAT's, grades, essays etc.? would it be easier for me to get in because they had already accepted me, and therefore meet their standards? will it penalize me that i was accepted and turned them down?

thanks!

Isn’t that a question for the school admission office? I would call them ASAP.

A lot of that depends on the school in question. Some will have your application on file, and some will not. In my opinion (nothing to base this on,) the chances of them accepting you this late are fairly slim. I think colleges that WOULD allow this need you to note that you’re deferring acceptance for one year.

Edit: As in, when you were accepted after applying the first time responding that you were accepting for 2009 rather than 2008, not outright denying admission.

by the way, i’m from the US so i am referring to american schools. just in case no one was answering cus they thought i was talking about european schools which of course they would know nothing about.

Like ttparent said, why would you think any of us would know about the specifics of the yet to be named mystery college in which you hope to enroll? While well meaning and generally a good source of broad advice, we cannot answer your question. Call them Monday.
