I am a freshman at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. I pretty much hate this school. I guess I should have researched more before I decided on a college. The work isn't hard but isn't easy. I do very little work, but I am still doing well. This school has no football team, no school spirit, and the people are just flat. Not enough people here party for me. Im looking to transfer after this year (not after 1st semester). I don't mind the small student population at all, but everything else I don't like. Nobody here is from the south. Everybody is from New York, New Jersey, or Boston. The frat life is good though, one of the upsides.

What schools should I look at? I'm pretty sure I can get into most places. I will have a pretty good GPA and other crap. So far I have a list but its just a draft, and I have no idea about real possibilies. Heres what im thinking so far...
UPenn (possibly play sprint football)
Duke
Vandy
UMich
Maryland -easier school
Penn state -easier school
---->Schools must be on the east coast (mommy wont let me go far)

any suggestions are greatly appreciated...thank you

screw tech man. if you think emory is bad then tech isn't right for you. but then again sports is huge here and so are the frats. However, u will have to lower ur standards becausethe girls are not so pretty and there aren't too many of them. i would kill to meet emory girls now. Not just me though...

lol i used to live right by tech for p two 8 years and my dad went there for a while. he told me that there's so many girls and so little guys at tech. one time he was on a date and he bored the girl so much that she went and called up other of her guy friends to hangout with her instead. But yeah, that's my only suggestion...even though it slightly blows.

dude im sure ur dad is a smart guy but you ask any guy here and they will tell you that there aren't enough girls here at tech. Even (no offense) the ugly girls are getting plenty of attention here. The ratio is 70percent guys and 30 percent girls and this is true. Just look in dining halls, classes, parties especially, and the gym. I also have a few good things to say about tech but Im only replying to u sasafetch.

DO NOT NOT, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT COME TO PENN STATE. I am currently enrolled at Penn State, and this SCHOOL JUST SUCKS! I MEANT IT, IT SUCKS TERRIBLE. WHy? The following are the reasons,

1) People are racism, rude and ignorant.

2) Huge party school (durgs, alchohol, etc)

3) It is located in the damn Central PA, where there is nothing to do, besides pary

4) Professors are toooooooooooo linear here. I found the classes way toooooeasy. It is not challenging, nor does it feels like college. Serious

5) People play blasting music at 4:00 AM.

6) Classes are tremendously huge (i mean 300+ students)

7) This school requires too many General Education requirements. My major is finance and accouting, and I found I am taking class like Introudction to music. Which has nothing to do with my major!

8) Professors here make themselves scarce!

Yeh, I strong suggest that you do not come to Penn State. I am trying to transfer out after this semester!

I'm transferring to Emory to get away from the label obsessed, snooty Long Island, Boston, New England types encountered at BU. I guess it's much of the same at Emory too then?!

Davidson kind of flat. id recommend UNC it has the state school feel, great parties Extreme school spirit, friendly people...and reputation w/ strong academics

well im at maryland and if you're looking for a southern population, you're not going to find it there. 70% are from maryland and everyone else is from new jersey, new york and pennslyvania. the academics are not incredibly difficult, probably the same as emory, probably easier but people do care about school. there is TONS AND TONS of school spirit, i think we were voted number 1 by princeton review for having the best fans or something along those lines and you can definitely see that on campus. frat life is also good, greek life is pretty intense on campus so finding parties is pretty easy. it's pretty much the stereotypical traditional college experience.
