ExtraCurriculars:
1.Editor-in-Chief of my school publications magazine for 2 years (and have had other editor positions for the other two years). this is my favorite extra-curricular and I plan on placing emphasis on this in the application.
2. Honor Societies: National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Math Honor Society(Events Coordinator), Spanish Honor Society.
3. Volunteer Work: I have over 400 hours in the hospital, library, red cross, and homeless shelter. Also I am a memeber of an executive teen board in the library.
4. Other Clubs: Mock Trial(juror), culture club (secretary), key club, yearbook, writing and literature workshop(president),amnesty, habitat for humanity, brazilian exchange.
5. part of a youth leadership forum in my city(not one of those national leadership forum stuff. this works with respect to my city only and consists of only 8 kids)
6.viola for 8 years.
7. I am working this summer as an intern in a local newspaper. last 2 summers I worked for my mom's company as a receptionist/secretary.

I am pretty sure that I can write stellar essays and get really good recommendations from my peer, counselor, and teachers(expecting a great one from my english teacher because I really stood out). Also, I think I will do well in the interviews.

What do you guys think????????????????

anyone? pretty please?

you look good get math sat up ...a few Bs may hurt
forget your psat...good ec s editor and viola show dedication
the tough one should you go ed or you may want your As youll get senior year(hopefully) to offset some of the Bs

what do others think ED of NOT ED for mystic

thanks isaac. you pose a very good point about waiting to apply, so i can prove myself with really good senior year grades. yet, won't my chances significantly improve by applying ED? Dartmouth is my dream school, afterall. Regardless, the worst case scenario would be getting rejected which would just be heartbreaking. Yet, if I get accepted than that is just great and if I get deferred, dartmouth will see my senior year grades and then admit me (hopefully) for regular decision.

bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's always a toss-up when you're applying to these schools. But don't worry about the Bs - after all, you can't change those now, can you? Focus on keeping those senior year grades high. Schools like Dartmouth like to see improvement over an academic career, so these fourth-year grades will be much more important than first- or second-year grades.

Here's the deal, I think: you're not a shoe-in, but neither are a lot of those admitted. It all comes down to you and how you sell yourself. You need a strong hook, a real reason why Dartmouth should want you in their class (of 2011 I suppose).

I was in a similar position, I suppose, and still got in. If you have any Dartmouth-specific question (I know I did when I was applying!) feel free to drop me a note, or e-mail bdla@dartmouth.edu Stay in touch, good luck!

thanks everyone

so does anyone else want to comment?

When you say your ethnicity is "Indian," do you mean East Indian or American Indian? The latter might have a better chance at being admitted to Dartmouth with your stats than the former.

Indian, as in originating from India. I guess i should of made that clearer.
