i hate math. Especially algebra 2.... i had a terrible teacher in alg 1 and now i have a terrible teacher for alg2. I hate piecewise functions and step functions and vertical stretch and yada yada yada. it takes up too much of my time making me lose time to focus on other classes. -_-

My algebra 2 teacher is insanely difficult, we have a quiz EVERYDAY.

yeah, I hate Alg. 2 as well. Piecewise functions sucked when we were doing them!

So hate I. Except we have extremly boring strange existence as a teacher at my new prep., I have never been good at this subject.

Algebra is so easy compared to calculus.

Good luck.

If you have a inefficient teacher...just study your textbook, simple as that.

lol. i miss piecewise.
i mean, i don't have much room to talk because i'm only in precal, but in two months we'll start integrals and other "fun" stuff.

lol im doing all this. i did peacewise about 2 weeks ago and got a 57 on the test. i have a C in math honors =[

UGH .. my test today (in Math Studies) brought my grade from a B+ to a B. ughughughughguhguhguhgu

So I'm taking Health 1 online to compensate.

I don't even remember algebra 2, i took it online over the summer.

I don't mind Algebra 2 now that I'm in Regents. Honors was insane (even the teachers think so, but they just have to teach the curriculum, so it's not their fault)...But yeah, Regents is easy. It's pretty much like Algebra 1 with different stuff.

I love my math class (not the subject, the class), our teacher is hilarious only teaches us for like 10 minutes a class and lets us do whatever we want the rest of the time, so my friends and I get almost all our homework done, while having a great time.

Hahaha piece-wise functions. I can't even remember the last time I had to work with one. Don't blame the teachers, you have a textbook, so you can study it one your own.

You guys have it good. As a high school student, I took Algebra I in the 10th grade, and passed with a "A". However, in the 11th grade, I struggled with Algebra II and ended up passing with a "D" due to a very difficult/bad teacher who does the material from the book. I hated math at that moment on until I enrolled in Pre-Calculus in the 12th grade. Although my grades in that class was in the same range as Algebra II, the class served me well when I enrolled in College Algebra/Trigonometry. The material was easier to understand the second time around. But having a good teacher is very important as well. So if all goes well, I will be enrolled in Calculus I for the Spring 2008 semester at my school.

I am a Sociology Major who doesn't really need to take Calculus I. But I plan to take the class in hopes that it would offset the "D" grade that I got from my Intro. to Logic class. The Logic class is no longer offered at my school. Thus, I could not retake the class for a better grade. So Calculus is my best bet.

Oh, you guys. Don't hate on math, hate on your teachers. Math is cool.

"Oh, you guys. Don't hate on math, hate on your teachers. Math is cool."

Agreed. XD

Though I got a B for the year in Algebra II because of the teacher citing some arbitrary restriction in the rules, it was a fun class. Mathematics are always fun; I am in AP Calculus AB right now and its one of my favorite classes. ^.^ Nothing beats graphing polynomial equations by hand by the use of derivatives to find the maxes and mins, and the points of concavity.

Math is awesome! Just imagine... a system of ideas which, being deduced from a few axioms which seem be self-evident, are clear, simple, and unquestionably true. A world not bound by physical restrictions, like science or engineering, nor as arbitrary as english or the humanities. Mathematics has its own special charm. Of course, I appreciate all (core) branches.

Also, I looked at the syllabus for a "Math for liberal arts" courses once and all I can say is... ewwwwwwww.

graphing polynomial equations by hand is irritating =P

and math is in itself a set of restrictions and rules. otherwise 2+3 could equal chair and people would totally accept that.

enderkin is right. Imagine what people would do if they believed that 2+3 = chair? Sheer madness.

Everyone knows that 2 + 3 = fish.

i hate math too! hooray!

A poor teacher in one subject can easily ruin a GPA.

Unfortunately, colleges (or my parents) won't accept the "my teacher was horrible" excuse for a bad grade. Just work on it, but don't dwell on bad grades. Is there anyone you could go to for help?

Sorry if my reply wasn't too assuring!

I actually like my Alg 2 class. I think it's easier than Geometry. :)
