Havard Chances

I'm a white male from a Seattle public school. My father graduated from Harvard in '75. I'm wondering what my kind of prospect I have to get in. Here are my credentials:

Almost guaranteed 4.0 GPA throughout all of high school
8 AP courses and as many honors as was possible

SAT II:

Mathematics Level 2 800
Spanish 690
U.S. History 780

SAT I:

Writing 800
Reading 750
Math 740

APs:

Euro, 4; US (pending) expected 5; Calculus AB (pending) expected 5; Spanish (pending) expected 3; English (pending) expected 4.

ECs:

4 years of tennis, 2 varsity (potentially co-capitan)
1 year JV basketball
1 year JV baseball
3 years NHS, 1 year NHS president
3 years "Cultural Relations" -- organization designed for promoting racial and cultural understanding and peace
2 years Spanish club
3 years school mentor, 1 year leader of mentors
3 years chess team
Considerable sucess as a painter (accepted in several prestigious art fair)
Founder/president of three minor clubs at my school

I know that my ECs are lacking in depth.

Thanks,

P.S. I believe I could raise my SAT I by about 50 points if I re-take. Is my score high enough that 50 extra points wouldn't matter? What if I blotch it and lose 50 points? Would that hurt me?

To be honest, there's nothing spectacular here. You have a shot sure, but I wouldnt say a great one. Being a legacy will help you, try to maybe do something significant for EC if you can? Good luck.

Harvard admissions is random, but 50% of all legacies are supposedly accepted...so you have decent chances.

So I'm lacking strength mostly in my extra-curriculars? Is there something I can do this summer and in September to quickly give that part of my app more substance?

ur a legacy...you're in. you're very strong anyway so I think you're in. grr legacies haha im jealous...i mean i dont want to go to harvard, but just the fact that you get helped along, i dont resent it, i just wish my parents had had the money to go to that kind of school

Your SAT is just fine. Dont retake it, 800's in writing dont come too often.
