Havard Likely Letters

The low odds won't stop me from wishing whenever I get the mail :S

Best to just forget about them lol

So what do you guys think, like 3 weeks?

who do they typically send these to, other then athletes,

(other schools target highly qualified URMs and females in engineering/science/math)

^ you know, if they only send out 80-100, that doesn't leave much room for others :P

I believe it's the same as those other schools you mentioned.

you guys understand that when they say most, they mean at least 40-50 are recruited athletes? this is a minimum; let's say only half are. This means that you would have to be top 40-50 in Harvard's eyes, academically or other incredible talent. Basically, I think anyone that will be receiving a likely letter shouldn't be surprised or should be already expecting one (recruited athletes that are highly sought after for example by not only Ivies but also big D1 schools). I'm not sure why this Pandora individual received one. Either she is phenomenal and was simply being extremely modest... or.. I'm not sure.

the purpose of a likely letter is to really grab the kids that would get in everywhere, period. i don't think Harvard is incredibly concerned with a low yield for top students.

Wow, Harvard posters are a lot nicer than Columbia posters!

I read throught this thread, and in a similar one on Columbia's page, most people just criticized the OP as someone just looking for praise.

So, when does Harvard sent out likelies? And to how many? The Oct. 1st number is not applicable, that refers to athletes and super-human academic people. I have two friends who got recruited (athlete), so I would know. If they send out further ones, it would be for normal RD applicants.

I've recently recieved a call from the coach recruiting me saying congradulations as well as a call from the lady who did my interview, both telling me that I'd been accepted into Harvard. Does this mean I'll recieve a likely letter in the mail soon or will I have to wait until late March/April like everyone else? Probably something I should ask the coach isn't it?

I've never submitted a critical post before, but I can't help it after reading the previous post by goonzwa8.

It's "I BEFORE E EXCEPT AFTER C"!!!

This makes me really wonder about Harvard's lower admission standards for athletes!

lol chill...and before you freak out again, it's congratulations not congrad!!!
I typed it all in about 30 secs so just relax friend.
Most people on blogs aren't too concerend with spelling

concerned lol*
that was for you ecneics

Congratulations goonzwa8!!!!!!! That's awesome!

I got a phone call on Thursday from the swim coach telling me that i was going to be accepted followed by a letter in the mail saying basically the same thing... too bad im not going to go =(... at least i can say i turned down harvard?

i see from your post history you got in ED at Wharton... why wouldn't you withdraw your application?

^If Penn finds out, you could be in trouble unless you made no advances to Harvard and they just sought you out...

Anyway, no one knows the answer to my question? :(

Baelor, Its estimated that they send out 80-100. last year they sent it out around valentines, so we shall assume the same this year.

Thank you.

Anytime Mr. Baelor.

i did withdraw my app, they still contacted me tho... probably because i withdrew within a week of them sending me that letter or something, idk.
