Hi guys
So it’s been about a month into the new semester and I’m doing well in all but one class: Pre-cal.
We’re mainly around the subject of trigonometric functions and the combo of the teacher and this subject is translating to me understanding nothing and failing all the quizzes. My teacher justs writes the book on paper, throws it on the Elmo, and reads it out loud with her annoying accent. And these are the days we don’t spend the whole period on her two problem warm up.
Any ideas on how can I overcome this insanely irritating class? I just want to make it out with a B or higher when I’m finally released from what feels like 55 minutes of hell. I do all the homework, I’ve been to her tutoring(extremely pointless), and I’ve tried teaching myself which worked in the past but I guess trigonometry doesn’t come easy to me like other concepts of pre cal.
Get yourself a private tutor.
I have basically learned nothing from my High School class and would be failing Pre-Cal, instead I have a B+.
My teacher also has an accent but my main issue is that I fall asleep almost everyday.
I too had a B+ in the class all throughout the first semester but trigonometry really messed me up. I don’t have the money nor do I want to spend the money on a private tutor as in past experiences they haven’t worked well for me.
Any other ideas?
Khan Academy has very good explanation videos.
I’m pretty decent with trigonometry, if you want to PM me specific questions about hw/classwork I can try and help.
Sorry to hear that you’re having a difficult time. Is there anything specifically screwing you up?
Frankly I’d focus on trying to solve the problems in the textbook and getting them consistently right. There are YouTube videos, specifically from Khan Academy, that can help you. Don’t despair because honestly trig is made out to be a lot harder than it is. I hated trig but you only need to know the basic concepts to understand calculus. If you’re having trouble with anything relating to graphing then I’d suggest you play around with Desmos. It’s a fun website that graphs functions for you. It can help show you the relationship between the function and the graph.
Otherwise, I’m willing to help explain any questions you have through PM. I’d also take the above poster on his offer because two different explanations may be more illuminating.
