Wondering if the admit letters have started to go out for regular admission or those who were deferred from EA....down to waiting for my last few schools to come in!

I think schools that prolong the acceptance wait, risk loosing top students to other schools. I expect it to take some time, but 3 months seems like forever. Send out acceptance earlier, and any award or scholarships at a later date. Any way good luck to all.

Received package today, mailed 2-10. No tuition/merit scholarships costs until mid March. I called.

My D in DE received Acceptance for RD today…mail date 2/10.

I thought acceptance/rejection letters went out the week of March 19th?

Received my admit on February 10th also. Thought it was kind of early considering i had applied in December.

Would any of you mind sharing what your stats were? What were your SAT scores and GPA? I am just curious to see how what my son’s chances are - thanks!

SAT: 1910 (680 CR, 590 M, 640 W)
ACT: 30 (11 essay)
GPA: Weighted- 5.1 Unweighted- ?

I’m in-state also.

Also accepted yesterday:) mailed out 2/10

Son’s acceptance letter received yesterday (2/13) to Moore!

Congrats to all who were accepted.

If I remember correctly, last year they sent out acceptance letters for several weeks, and all of the acceptance letters were sent out prior to any rejection letters.

I would assume that they will accept the brightest kids first, and then the next brightest, and the next brightest etc, until they have send out all the letters. They do has a specific number of students that they are going to accept and they want to make sure they get the best qualified candidates first. I believe they are planning on accepting something like 12,000 students (out of something like 20,000 applications) with the expectation of enrolling about 4500. Last year they ended up having a few more accepted students to enroll than they expected to, so it’s likely that the standards will be slightly higher to meet this year.

If you are a marginal applicant, like a 1000 SAT (two parts) and 2.99 unweighted GPA, I suspect you will be among the last one notified. Those with with a 3.5 or above unweighted GPA including some honors and AP classes, and a 1200 or above SAT will probably get the good news fairly soon.

In my son’s case, last year he got a “heads up” email from a specific program that he had applied to about a week before he got the official acceptance letter.

His scholarhip offer came a few weeks later. We were somewhat disapointed with the scholarship offer as it was much less than some of the other colleges he applied at. He enrolled at USC anyway as it was still the best school for his particular major, and so far we arn’t regreting it.

Would anyone else who has been accepted mind sharing their stats?

1230 cr/m, 4.1 weighted, accepted early action

1030 SAT, 24 ACT, 3.9 GPA, in state

1170 sat 26 act 4.2 gpa out of state

Does anyone have any thoughts on my son’s chances of being accepted? His best SATs are M-650, CR-530, W-540 – GPA is about 3.3 I think. The one problem was his ACT score (22) which I didn’t even think he should send in, however, on the application it requires you to send in ALL test scores. I hope it doesn’t ruin his chance of being accepted - any thoughts??

I would not send in ACT scores if I were you. They don’t need to know you took them. We only sent in ACT not SAT. Send in your best scores. Accepted on 2-13. Best of luck

Unfortunately it’s too late - they were sent in back in October along with SAT scores. It specifically asked on the app if you took the ACT and on what date. I even called admissions because I was concerned about it hurting him but they assured me (for what that’s worth) that they only use the scores that help him - NOT hurt him. I guess we will see…so much for being honest on the app :(

Son was accepted in December - SAT Math 710 Verbal 640 - weighted gpa 4.3 or so (not solid on that), etc. Didn’t take ACT. Just learned he was not accepted into the honors college though - bummer. :(

I sent in my ACT’s and was worried about them as well. I got a 21 on the science section (which I hadn’t taken science in two years AND it was the last section so my brain was dead anyways.) But USC uses only your best scores. My guess is they ask for all of them for informational purposes and data collecting, but when evaluating candidates, they only look at your best scores.

I got in last year early admit with a CR 630, Math 600, and Writing 580. (Super scoring.) I think my unweighted was like a 2.9, but my weighted was a 3.43. I was in-state and came from a private school that doesn’t rank students. I had six AP’s and all honors otherwise. And I had lower grades in my freshman and sophomore year, but made Honor Roll my junior year, which probably helped me. I also got a scholarship.

So if your GPA is lower, but you’ve taken a good mixture of classes and do well on the SAT or ACT, then you should be fine. Or vice versa.

^CFitzRN: With those stats, your son will probably get into Capstone and will probably receive a scholarship of some sort. If he wants to be in the Honors College, he can reapply and if he does well in his classes at Carolina (3.5 or higher), then he has a really good shot of getting in. It’s not the end of the world if he doesn’t get in the first time.
