Guysssss
I have an act tomorrow (last shot)
What can I do to do better than 28?
I wrote once without preparing and scored 28
Should’ve studied
I know mate.
Is there a chance tho? To get a 29 or more?
What was your lowest score last time? If you have taken the ACT’s more that once already there is a very low statistical chance of you seeing major improvement, especially without studying.
Taken it only once.
Scored a 28
If there was one specific subject that anchored your score I would really hammer that tonight, but also get a good night sleep.
31 math
30 science
28 english
24 reading :’(
Have you taken practice tests? There are a whole bunch online. Not a lot you can do at this point to change your score, but at least you can become familiar with the test format. Where are you applying to early that you feel like a 28 would be a safe goal? I’d just apply regular decision at this point. You would have to automatically send in your score and if it wasn’t good there would be nothing you could do to fix it.
Yeah I suggest really hitting reading hard tonight. Really read over who to answer the reading section because many questions require critical thinking to answer correctly.
I’m gonna sleep in an hour now.
I’m applying to
Uiuc and uw Madison for early action so that there is a better chance of getting in.
I think a 31 on math is good for cs and my school grades are good.
My activities include playing basketball for school at nationally recognised tournaments and internship at a MNC.
What should I do?
Gonna doze off in under an hour.
Dont feel like studying cuz I had 3-4 anxiety attacks in the last 5 days due to other reasons.
Schools care WAY more about your composite than your individual sections.
You could study some today in English/reading. Actions (or inactions) have consequences. You didn’t study so you shouldn’t expect a higher score.
I disagree, with @Hamlon. Send your scores because…
- 28 is far above the nationwide average of 21
- On most college apps you indicate that you are planning to take another standardized test prior to applying. They usually accept you based on the score you submit or will ask you to send the score from the test you plan to take if yours is not high enough.
@ryanPA national average means nothing. What matters is the average of the schools you are applying to in the specific majors you’re going into.
The average CS act at UIUC is a 33.5. OP’s ACT has to be looked at in comparison to that, not the average of all students nationwide.
OP of course will have to send in his highest test score which is as of now a 28.
@Akhil2000 , Early Action typically has the same admission rate as Regular Decision. The only benefit is you get your admissions status earlier.
To lighten the mood, I brought my 29 (taken without studying) to a 32 with taking about 7 full practice tests. There’s always the next test.
You don’t want to be at the national average. Lots of people included in that might not end up going to college, or might drop out. 21 is very low. Better than “very low” doesn’t necessarily mean “good for selective schools.”
I’m taking 2 more acts
Is 28 that bad?
@bodangles I’m not saying it’s good to be just above a 21. I’m just saying if you take into reference the whole body of students who took the ACT, he didn’t score poorly.
I used to live in Wisconsin and I know plenty of people who got into UW Madison with 28’s
