My son applied as a transfer, and I was wondering how long a decision would take, or has in the past?

I recieved mine today, and my application was fully complete January 16.

Congratulations! I am assuming you got in? Did you get an email, or mail?

Thank you! I was accepted! I did not recieve an email, and my status on the status checker isn’t any different. However, I was able to login here https://secure.binghamton.edu/newadmit/loginform.jsp a couple days ago.

Good to see that transfer applications are getting decided. His application was complete 1/28, so maybe he won’t be waiting too long now. Did you send your HS transcript yet? He got an email to send it, although it was not necessary for the decision, it is necessary before you can register for classes. So, you might want to get that going. Cannot log in to that site, as you could.

I sent both my high school and college transcript at the same time. I was actually a bit worried because my HS transcript had my SAT scores on them, and I had done terrible on them. I’d give it a couple of days, I logged in a day before getting my letter, so really I just got to the website before the letter got to me. I wish your son lots of luck! What year will he be entering as?

He will be a junior.

Same as me!

Do you plan on living on campus? What dorm do you think you want to be in?

Unfortunately for my bank account, I am haha. My top three choices in order are: Dickinson, Mountainveiw, and then Newing. I like the suite set up in Mountainview, but I’ve read it isn’t very social. My main reason for on campus housing is so that I force myself to socialize, otherwise I know I won’t. Where does your son want to stay?

On campus also. Also a suite, like you. He hasn’t really looked at the different communities yet, so not sure where. We went on a tour when he was accepted as a freshman, but I don’t remember which area we liked best. There are some newer ones though, cause they were being built when we went.

I applied for transfer and my application was completed 2/6, but I haven’t received a decision. Is this a bad thing? :-SS

I don’t think so. The poster above, who got a decision already, was complete 1/16. My son was complete 1/28, no decision yet. Did you have your transcript sent? And check to see if it was received?

Yes, my transcript was received February 6th, Now that I re-read the post, I thought the poster above had completed their application February 16th, not January 16th. Phew!

Well I am glad…and good luck! Hope you get good news soon!

Thank you, you too!

Receiving a lot of email from Binghamton-best value, and such, and to check status, but no changes to application status! UGH every time I get one I think a decision has been made, but not yet!

I just received an email saying they need more information to make a decision and told me to submit a mid year report. So I have to have every one of my professors write the current grade I’m getting in their course and fax it to them. I don’t understand why this is necessary given I already have 55 credits. Sigh, I guess I’ll have to wait longer for a decision. Good thing I didn’t slack off in any of my classes.

I think that’s a good sign! I think it means as long as you are doing well this semester you will be accepted! Hopefully? Good Luck and send that info ASAP!

Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to get a recommendation letter from one of your professors and send that along with the mid year report, if you can?
