I was just wondering if any of you had found any good websites (or even books) that give examples of good and bad application essays. Even just small articles that list top 10 cliches or something along those lines would be great. We all know by now what types of essays the admin people are looking for, but I'd like to see examples.

You may have seen this already but I think it is helpful:

[Writing the Personal Statement - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/perstmt.htm)

And there is this video:

[Applying to UC: The Personal Statement 2007 - YouTube](<a href=“Applying to UC: The Personal Statement 2007 - YouTube”>Applying to UC: The Personal Statement 2007 - YouTube)

It’s from 2007 and it mainly focuses on freshman applications but it is still information directly from an admissions representative which may be helpful.

This may help as well even though it is not specifically for the UC schools:

[College Application Essay No-No’s the college app jungle](College Application Essay No-No's - the college app jungle)

That website has other articles that seem to be worth reading but I think it mainly focuses on the Ivy League schools.
