Have any of your kids attended SuperCamps?

By reading various summer camp related web sites, I have run across something called SuperCamps. These are co-ed camps that are held on a few campuses nationwide (i.e. Brown, Wake Forest, UCLA, etc.). The purpose of the camps is one part social skills and confidence building and the other part ACT/SAT prep. They sound intriguing for S2. Do any of you have any experience with these? Were they effective for your kids? Did they enjoy them? Or do you have any other recommendations? I'm particularly interested in the social skills and confidence building aspects.

Thanks!

My D’s friend did one at Brown for 2 summers. The only problem I see with them is that in this case, the girl really thought that by doing the camp twice, having straight A’s (4.0 UW) and getting good scores (2200+) would mean she would get into Brown. She didn’t.

The school never said anything about attendance influencing admissions, but you can see how a kid could make that leap.

Just something to keep in mind.

^ Totally understand. Actually I did not even think the camp is associated with the host college. I was under the impression they were just using the college facilities. Again we would be more interested in the social/confidence building skills.
