I still haven't gotten mine, and the bursar bill is due today. Ohhh man.

I have not received mine either. very frustrating

Haven’t gotten mine either although I submitted the forms waaaaaaaaaaaaay late (again)

haven’t gotten mine -sent all materials in, but I just checked yesterday and they still hadn’t received them (as usual). Sooo I emailed them…but they haven’t responded.

Also - last year they got around to it, oh, around January. suckkeddd

I still haven’t got mine

me neither!

I’m in incoming freshman, so i don’t have this problem yet. But anticipating I will for next year I suppose.

So, what happens when the bursar bill is due but you don’t have your financial aid package yet? Do you have to pay the bill and then get the money back or does the bursar let you slide until the finaid is done?

I mean, the one posts says around January. Is that an exaggeration?

No, that is not an exaggeration. They seriously gave it to me in January.
But, before then, they just tell your parents to first wait to pay the bursar, and then eventually they just say, “uhh, send us around what you paid last year”. Even if your finances have changed. Their answer to that is, “well, if it ends up that you should have paid less, then we will send you a refund check at the beginning of the second semester.”

still missing mine…

@seuferk

thanks that makes me feel better. I just was thinking, geez if they are taking forever to process finaid and I have to tell my parents to come up with a bunch of money until they get it taken care of.

@suziechapstik … it’s really tough to get to finaid a lot of the times … all u can do is be patient with them. its just the nature of how they operate … very slow.

Thanks again. I have actually had a great experience with them so far this first go around.

My initial package was not nearly what I thought it would/should be. I had no trouble getting a meeting with them during Cornell days and i received a new package about 2 weeks later.

I’m not really that worried about what I will get next year. I mean, what they offer is pretty cut n dry and I don’t see that it will change for the rest of my time there unless my parents income changes. I just wasn’t really sure how the whole thing worked with the bursar bill coming due prior to finaid packages being done.

Seems to me it will be all good.

Anyone else still waiting?

it is better to work things out in person…

what you do is make an appointment to meet with a counselor (if you need any adjustments)

if it’s just forms that they havnet processed…then yes that can be a *****…

i think they do it in order of priority…meaning those who qualify for the most aid get processed first…

which is why those who can afford to pay are asked to give more or less what they gave last year…

i got in my financial aid applications late this summer…i hope i see something soon though :<

So what do you do if you end up getting shafted? My FA package for this upcoming year is really good, but my dad has made a decent amount more than he did last year. I don’t want to find out halfway through the year that we can’t afford it…

resurgambell… how would they tell who qualifies for the most aid before they process the forms?

“Pending Financial Aid” section on studentcenter was FINALLY updated for me today.

Don’t know if this is the right thread to ask, but does anyone know what “Finance Charge Student Finance” in the activity section means? Just wondering since I didn’t get this charge last year.

if its a returning student…i think they might know who qualifies for the new no-loans financial aid program (pure speculation here)

also…if you are getting charged a crazy amount of finance b/c your aid packet hasnt been applied…you might be able to get it waived (at least the part your finaid was supposed to cover)

you definitely get the fee waived - i did last year. just send them an email or call them before you pay (after you get your aid, obviously).
