Are there any Fall 2013 transfer applicants out there who have received decisions? I realize I'm just being unnecessarily impatient, but I've grown quite attached to the idea of UMN-TC and I'm eager to hear back. My application was submitted January 9th, with everything arriving within a week. Admissions marked my application as complete on the 31st and forwarded it to the college (CLA) for review.

From what I've read on CC from past years, a decision usually took about five weeks and I'm going on six. I tried calling a CLA transfer specialist on Monday, but they weren't in and my call was never returned.

Just interested in knowing how other Fall 2013 transfer hopefuls are doing. Anyone heard back? Anyone feeling my pain?

I submitted my application on Jan. 28 and on Feb. 12 my status changed to “We have forwarded your application to the college (CSE) for review. Review of fall applications begins in January and decisions are sent on a rolling basis beginning in February.”

I understand I am nowhere near the 6 week mark such as yourself, but I am eagerly waiting a decision. Nebraska gave me decision 3 days ago and the application was sent on the 28th as well. I understand Nebraska is not as “popular” as UMN, but I am impatient.

I feel your pain and wish you best of luck on getting accepted.

ps. I wouldn’t mind hearing others experiences as well…I find it comforting that I am not the only one who can’t wait to hear them say “ACCEPTED!”

I’m a transfer applicant. My online application was completed on January 11th, but they didn’t get the last of my materials until quite recently. My status changed very quickly from having complete materials, to being reviewed by my college (CLA), to the “your application is being very carefully considered” message. That last one is as of February 14th. From what I’ve seen in previous years’ threads, your admissions decision usually comes a week after this message, right?

Yeah, from what I understand it takes about a week to receive a decision after the “very carefully considered” status appears (quicker if you live in or close to Minnesota).

My status actually updated this morning, so I expect to find out at the beginning of next week. As much as I’m glad to know that much, it’s also exacerbated my anticipation. =/

Happy to see progress is being made. Hopefully I will be “carefully considered” within the week – with a final decision coming sometime next week.

I wish you guys the best of luck! keep me updated!

ericwk, the anticipation is killing me too.

I called admissions this morning because others on CC had said that they’ll tell you over the phone in some cases. A CLA transfer specialist returned my call this afternoon and informed me that they offered me admission and that I should receive my letter within the next few days.

So yay.

@WomanKing I noticed elsewhere on the forum that you’re transferring to study Pyschology? Me too. I’m excited to soon be attending such a well respected research university. Ultimately, I want to pursue a PhD in Cognitive Psychology or Cognitive Science and UMN-TC should be an excellent stepping stone to that. I hope you hear back soon, but if my case is any indication, you can probably call and find out!

@jawzzy Hope you hear soon. If your timeline is similar to mine, I’m guessing a decision will be made within the next couple of weeks.

ericwk, congratulations! That’s very exciting! How did you ask them about it? I’m tempted to call but I feel like I should wait a few more days.

And yes, I’m a psych major. That’s so funny, we’ve got pretty similar circumstances. I’m interested in going into cognitive or social research, so I’d like to get a PhD as well.

Congratulations ericwk! That is awesome! My status changed today to “very carefully considered.” Let’s hope good news awaits me in the next week!

@WomanKing I assume the first person I spoke to when I called admissions was a student employee. I just said I was curious if a decision had been made on my application and she pretty much just told me what I already knew from the Application Tracker, but she said she would take my phone number and have a transfer specialist from CLA call me back in a day or two. The transfer specialist called me back a few hours later and told me flat out that I had been accepted.

ericwk - I’ve tried calling a couple of times and both times I was just told that they were carefully considering my application. Sounds like you had better luck with whoever helped you! I live pretty far from Minnesota so I don’t know when to expect a decision in the mail.

I took your route ericwk and decided to call them yesterday. I received a call back today with news that I did get accepted into CSE.

WomanKing, odd they didn’t have an answer for you. The person I spoke too said my letter decision letter was sent early this week, probably around the time my application tracker changed to “carefully considered.” I hope all things will go your way!

I was going to call again today but when I checked my application tracker this morning it said I had been accepted! Does anyone here know when they will inform you of course equivalencies?

When I spoke to the person who told me I was accepted; they told me a week or two after you get your acceptance letter they send you an email with how to access that information. I have to be honest I was a little excited while speaking to him so I don’t recall this 100%, but I think you view all that information online.

Womanking - you asked about credit for courses. I don’t know how it works for transfer students or if this is available for students who have not yet confirmed their admission, but give it a try.

Go to this link: [Twin Cities - University of Minnesota](University of Minnesota Twin Cities) On the upper right click on onestop and then half way down on the right click on APAS . (it asks you to sign in so use your same user and password that you were using to check your app status) Click on generate an APAS report . (somewhere in one of these steps it asks you to sign in so use your same user and password that you were using to check your app status) Once your APAS opens then about 2 inches down click on “open all”

You advisor is in charge of entering your major so it may not be current, but hopefully this will tell you what you have received for credit and what you still need.

Also on the right side of Onestop are the searches for “class search” so it is a fun tool to use.

Kajon, thanks for that information. I just checked mine out. It is currently empty, but this maybe what the person I spoke to was referring too.

Hi all, I’m a freshman at a UW applying for transfer into the CLA as a sophomore for fall '13.I was waitlisted last year–then I got a no. I submitted my transfer app on the 10th- when it said that the CLA priority deadline was March 1. All of my transcripts, etc. haven’t been processed yet, and when checking on their status, I saw that CLA’s priority deadline was extended for transfers until May 1. Do you guys know what this might mean? Also, are there any other perspective sophomore transfers?
