I am planning to transfer to UNC as a junior, because I do not like my current university. But I would like to know have any transfers found the transition easy? Is the community nice, was it worth leaving your previous institution? Oh and why did you transfer yo UNC in the first place? I am trying to go b/c they have one of the top Journalism programs in the country, and I also plan to major in Biology!

mblack, my son transferred in as a junior this year. While he was happy with his prior school academically, he (after 2 years) just didn't feel that it was a fit socially. He has found the transfer to be very easy. He loves the town of Chapel Hill and says he finally feels like he found a place where he feels at home. He likes the diversity there--all socio-economic levels, varying degrees of political activism (on both sides), the laid-back attitude of students, the good town-school relationship.

This first year many of his classes were meeting perspectives--like drama, phil., history, anthro. But he did get in some of his major too--bio/psych.

He says it was definitely the best decision for him.

Thank you. I was just wondering, because I was having thoughts of transferring there.
