yea. unfortunately

well, i wish they'd at least tell us then. so that we can stop wondering. and worrying.

ohmygosh 50 too many enrolled? that's crazy. what happens then - they can't un-accept anyone can they? lol

And I'm sorry that they won't be using the waitlist - hopefully that's wrong, and they do use waitlist like usual!

they won't unaccept anyone. they'll probably have to do something crazy like forced triples in a double room or something like that.

man, i wish this is just a rumour, and isn't true. i'm still incredibly hopeful.

To state the obvious, this is a result, I suppose, of the fact that Barnard is indeed a great school and I guess more students are choosing to matriculate than expected, which is a good thing for Barnard but not necessarily for those on the waitlist....sorry!

What an awful sentence that was...

im praying that this is just a rumor, but is it possible to check with the admissions office about the waitlist before May 15th?

it is just a rumor. everyone can take a deep breath. my guidance counselor called the admissions office and they said that it is way too early to make such an assessment. in any event most of the elite schools under-accepted this year in anticipation for the huge influx of applications. waitlists across the board have been VERY active this year. just wait another week--there is still hope for all of us.

anonymous08: that's very reassuring. thanks for the optimism! God knows we could use some.

honestly, churchmusicmom...

this is NOT an attempt to be rude, but.

I think that you have been way too involved in this Barnard forum in general. When we future applicants ask questions or discuss, all I see is you defending Barnard and stating the obvious all over again.

Seriously. We love Barnard, we're interested, that's why we're here. So please.... hang out in the parent's forum?

goodatlife: Wow. Harsh. churchmusicmom meant to be helpful. Try to see someone's intent, not their effect on you.

And I'm sorry; I know you're stressed from hanging out on the wait list, so it is understandable, but I feel for churchmusicmom reading this.

mom mafia!!!!!
just kidding just kidding just kidding

the admissions office told me today that they dont know whether they will be using the waitlist or not yet...it's too early to tell. they'll let us know "by the end of may".

Well, barnardgirl2012 just got accepted, so I'm guessing they've started on it.

So the whole thing about 50 too many people enrolling WAS just a rumour. Thank God.

Good luck to all of you still waiting to hear. I am glad that it was just a rumor about being over-enrolled.

Thanks, mythmom.

Also, the reason I do "hang out" in the Barnard forum is to try and be helpful. Of course I am generally going to say positive things about Barnard. The only valid perspective I have to offer is of a parent of a very satisfied Barnard student, and I do attempt to make it clear that this is point-of-view from which all my comments come.

hey - I am actually going to apply next year for 2013, but I'm very interested about the how the class of 2012 made out this year. Does anybody know if a lot of people were accepted ED or deferred?

It isn't that long after the deadline for accepted students to tell Barnard if they are going or not, right? So they are probably still sorting stuff out and they'll look at the waitlist pretty soon, I assume...

I'm seriously confused. How can it be THIS long before they've realized if they need the waitlist or not? Or are they over-enrolled? Or waiting for the Ivies to pull people off so that the trickle-down effect occurs? Can someone call? Should I? I'm a shy introvert and I HATE calling. :)

I e-mailed my regional counselor...

Still waiting!

any news??

nope, none.

Guess it is final then (:. None of us CCers got of from Barnard's waitlist. 3rd week is too late to keep hoping, but I still had kept checking my e-mail.
