Hi,
I was accepted to Syracuse University as a freshman to Syracuse, last year. But, my parents held me back from attending the University. I currently attend NYU Poly. My major, at the moment, is Mechanical Engineering. It's been only 2 months in to my first year and I hate it. I never wanted to do engineering. Thus, my parents are allowing me to reapply to Syraucse. I'm not doing really great, basically because I never wanted to engineering. My dream was IT; because I have a big IT background: I interned at an IT background, and computer honors back in high school. I'm probably going to take the SAT again to get up by 200-300 points overall, as my first score was only 1600. My math has really excelled because of the rigorous math courses Poly has to offer. My high school average was 85 and my resume is really packed. Because, I 'm applying below 30 credits they will look at my high school transcript, which I find really good.
So, my question is will it be easier to be accepted because I have been accepted before? And, should I discuss the extra blank space on commonapp that engineering was never meant to be?

yeah i am in the same situation- sort of. i dont like my school and i want to go to syracuse.

lol wow that sucks that your parents tried controlling your future. um, chances are if you’ve been accepted the first time around you’ll be accepted again. my SAT’s were 1490 and 1660 and i got accepted here to the IT program. it’s really good so far i can tell you that. my roommate just transfered here and after one semester he reapplied to his old school and got accepted bc he hates it here.

OP–Why don’t you try calling the admission’s office and talking directly with someone there.
Explain that you were accepted for Fall 2011, but your parents steered you to attend a different college. Explain that they now have agreed to allow you to pursue attending Syracuse and studying the major that you wanted to study from the start. They may still have your records in their system. It’s worth making the phone call.

If you applied within the last year they have your application on file still. All you need to do is email them to reactivate it. Go to the admissions FAQs on the school website and look at the second to last question.
