I still haven't done it and am not entirely sure how. I've heard that i just send a letter/email to the other colleges, but im not sure; couldn't anyone send random emails like that.

The colleges I have dealt with have either made me send them a signed letter or call the admissions office and provide my applicant ID, DOB, and last four digits of my social security number to verify my identity.

i haven't yet. i'm still waiting on financial aid. my counsler told me not to send the deposit or withdraw until i have it. i called today and they said they sent it out yesterday. greaaaat. oh well.

i never understood why people need to withdraw their other apps if they applied to one school ED. wouldn't it be better if you got the decisions from the RD round, but you knew that you'd ultimately end up at your ED school? wouldn't it just be like 'not accepting an offer?' basically, why is withdrawing apps so necessary if you are not required to attend in the RD round to begin with?

it effects the "yield" at the colleges, their percentages which then effect their selectivity rating and then their rankings. thats why they want u to withdraw from other colleges, when u have heard ED

i applied to a bunch of rolling schools, so before i heard ED i was already into three other schools

biggyboy: Withdrawing you application opens up more spots for serious applicants in the regular decision round.

my friend applied to NYu ED and got accepted but she is still working on her Cornell apps, all she wanted to know if she can get in or not.....
i am mad but i cant say nothing to her

She might get in trouble with both NYU and Cornell...

hey guys,

i have a question. i applied early action to a few other colleges when i did early decision to cornell (I got in). Should I call these other colleges and tell them I can't go there, or just ignore their acceptance letters and not send in deposits (I did withdraw the regular decision applications I sent in around mid-Dec, right before I heard from Cornell, already)?

thanks

just send them something back saying you won't be accepting the offer. there should be a form you send in for that along with the acceptance letters.

i just sent in the deposit today...im going to call in later this week to confirm that they have received it, and then im withdrawing the rest of my apps
