Have I a chance?

Yep another chance thread. I'm international and I will apply in the class of 2016.

FSF volunteer, I have done many translations for them. Welcome — Free Software Foundation
I also mantain a website, my website edo1493's.
I have done a seminary about Governement and costitution 10 hours.

Summer: On Agust I will be in London, to improve my English and to work.

I have planned a lot of EC's for next year.

I'm 17 and I am currently in the third year. In italy, we have 5 years of high school.

I'm a Free Software activist as you can see, and I love Science.
Programming Skills: " I know the basis of C".

I will start to study for SAT I and SAT II math level 2 and physics next summer.
I don't think that I will have problems with math and physics, so maybe I will get 750+. For the SAT, I have no idea..
I will take also TOEFL (100+).

MIT
Harvard
Berkeley
Princeton
Stanford
Caltech
UPenn

This is a first idea, I have another year to choose my college. I want to take Computer Science. I know that to chance me is difficult because I don't have SAT scores, but you have an idea of me. Next year I will do hard work, this summer I will study physics and CS to win some prize.

I don’t think you really have a chance at any of those schools. A 7 out of 10 doesn’t sound to high, and those schools only accept the cream of the crop.

Yep I know, I won’t send the first GPA, because it’s not required, but I will have to send the 2nd,3rd,4th.
Now I am in the third year and I have 8 out of 10, maybe next year I will get 8.5/9 out of 10.
Italian marks are very different from USA. I will increase my admission percentage when I will take SAT and SAT II.

Ok, what is considered ‘outstanding’ grades in the italian education system?

Regardless, that is not a realistic list of schools if you are hoping to go to school in the US. Moreover, you should really look for schools not only on the basis of how prestigious their name is overall, but how good their computer science programmes are. Your list looks like you just came up with a list of top american universities, not necessarily top american computer science programmes.

In fact as I’ve said, this is a first idea; now I would like to consider:
-Berkeley(BSD)
-Caltech(it’s good)
-MIT(isn’t it the best CS program?)
-Stanford(Google)

They have a great CS program, I am looking for other schools from italy the research isn’t easy.

@: I think that to have a shot I should get good scores on SAT I and II and Toefl.
A national physics prize wouldn’t be bad, this summer I will study hard…

Look at Carnegie Mellon Computer Science (also VERY selective and very good), perhaps University of Maryland College Park (certainly lower on the selectivity scale but cheaper and has a very good computer science department), and other places. I can’t list more from memory but other people more familiar with your intended major would be able to help.

[GRE Guide - Computer Science Rankings](University Rankings - Computer Science)

Yes I wanted to add in the list carnegie mellon, I’m considering all the possibilities.
I have seen that a lot of applicants build thing and put them in their EC’s, is it helpful?
