Hello everyone. I feel like I am screwing things up and need some help.

I am currently going to a community college and this is my second year. I screwed up things to begin with so let me give you a little idea of my transcript

First semesters:
His 101 - Withdraw
Psychology 101 - F
Bio 103 - D

Second:
Re-taken Psychology 101 - B+
Computer class - B+
His 202 - A+
Math 098 - B+

Third (summer):
Math 100 - B+
Eng 101 - B+

Okay, here's my dilemma at the moment. You see how bad I messed things up my first semester? Well, I was homeless at the time so it was hard for me to get used to things or even show up to class. Now, I'm having some more problems on my current semester.

This semester:
Pre-Calculas
Eng 102
His 201
Sociology

Now they are all easy except PRE-CAL! I have already messed things up as I've been diagnosed with depression and i cannot focus in class. I'm having family issues as well. I'm thinking about taking the W but I'm not sure how bad that will hurt me in the long run

Here's my questions:
1.) I am on pell grant because I'm so poor. Do you think withdrawing from another class will hurt me badly with pell grant?
2.) I'm majoring in computer science where I have to know a lot of math. How bad will this look when I withdraw?
3.) Finally, what would you do in my situation?

Thank you for your help.

EDIT: I may actually be able to DROP the class without a penalty of getting a "W"!

You’ve got quite a load for this current semester, compared to previous terms. If you expect a C or lower in Pre-Calc, drop it, and retake next semester, especially if you can avoid the “W”. If your plan is to transfer, you’ll most likely have to stay in your CC for an additional year after this year.

If I was in your position, I would take major-related courses this Spring + Pre-Calc, then take 1-2 other major-related courses over the summer (the more major classes you take, the better). By the time Fall 2012 comes around, you’ll have a better idea of where you stand.

Pell Grant>Go to your financial aid office and ask. That’s what they do, so they should be able to help.
Comp Sci and Calculus>Comp Sci does not require a bunch of calculus, so I doubt they will look at that one class as determining your ability. Comp Sci is more about logic, probability, databases…
What would I do>Well up until now your transcript shows progress and you have a valid reason for your difficulties in your first semester. If Pre-Cal is pulling you down, dump it and keep the other grades up.
Also find a counselor at the school that you trust (shop around if you have to), and ask them. Many of the CC’s are staffed with people who specifically teach there to help folks out that need a boost.
You are doing great, but I wish you luck anyway. :)
