Have some questions I'd appreciate to be answered...

Well, for starters' Im a junior with a 74 overall average...not sure of the GPA conversion...Im not a stupid child....its even worse...Im lazy...and I find it is too late to do anything towards college besides going to a junior college to get my grades up is there anyway I'd be able to get into SUNY Buffalo or SUNY Albany...I live in NY btw....just took the SAT today and feel I did pretty well....is there anything I can do such as extracurricular activities because I have done none so far also...I know Im screwed but just would like a confirmation from someone who knows what they're talking about....I also attend Monsignor Farrell High School in Staten Island,NY...and I heard you have an advantage and can get into better schools just with the high school you came from.

as a NY resident, it will be difficult with the competition to be admitted to a SUNY right out of HS with a low GPA such as yours…it will obviously depend on your SAT as to other schools you MIGHT be able to apply to…

But given your late bloom of awareness, there is nothing wrong with going to community college (i.e. Staten Island Comm College) for two years, getting your grades up and then completing your college education at a SUNY or other university…

btw, the GPA conversion is approx 2.0 (“C”)

Just the fact that you are on here, you are probably realizing that you need to make a change; first step in the right direction!!

and there is no way of doing great such as 3.5 gpa senior year and have the college look at that? to show I just realized how serious this is.

2.4+2.4+2.4+3.5/4=2.675

It does look good to improve senior year, but, in your case, I don’t think it changes your chances for admittance, especially to Buff and Albany…

There are some other large publics around the country that might forgive such a low GPA if you have a higher SAT/ACT or even if you were in honors/AP courses, but this discussion is premature without test scores.

if you do, it must be the first semester grades, because those are the last set of grades you send in. Also, you gotta do well on your SAT, SAT 2 or ACT’s. Ask you teachers if you can do any extra credit work to boost your last grades of Junior Year.

As for extra curriculars, if you have time try to do some volunteering work and such, but grades are first priority.

can also get an excellent reco letter from my freshman english teacher if that matters

um recommendations should be written by a teacher of your junior year or senior I think. Not quite sure though

My friend graduated with like a 2.3 or something like that and got into a few SUNYs. But he was really good at track. But I know other kids with his grades who also got into SUNYs. So if your SAT is good and you do a little bit of community service or something of the sort this summer, you should be fine.

Anyone else think I have a shot if there is anything I mean anything I can do between now and end of senior year…including bringing my average way up in senior year?

anyone else have an opinion ever since I took the sat saturday I cant get this off my mind

Bump need more opinions

Bump also if I carry a 3.5 gps senior year will that matter

Bump anyone else?
