<p>I don't mean to open up a can of worms, but obviously the subject of affirmative action has a lot to do with these "what are my chances" posts. After looking through a great deal of them, it's easy to see that anyone with "URM" after their user name, decent GPA, decent test scores, and decent ECs is perceived as being more capable to get into top colleges than an Asian with phenomenal stats. As a female URM (black) myself, I can sort of see how this might be offensive to other URMs looking to be admitted based on merit only, but I can only imagine what college campuses would look like had affirmative action not been implemented back in the '60s.</p>
