Will Swarthmore send any sort of confirmation that they've received all of my materials? My recs were sent separately, and I have very little faith in the postal service...They said they'd tell me if they were missing something, but I don't want to rely on that.

My daughter called to make sure that Swarthmore received everything. The person who took the call was very pleasant and looked it up on the computer.

In general, I found the Swarthmore admissions department to be very courteous and they answered any questions even if they appeared to be stupid ones. They are also good at calming down nervous people (which is definitely not their responsibility).

No. I don't recall Swarthmore sending any kind of confirmation like that. If you want to confirm, you'll need to call or e-mail. It is a friendly, supportive place, but not a hand-holding place.

I do think that would contact you if your application were incomplete.

Interesteddad, would they contact you? I don't know about that either.....I think best is to contact them. The reason is, we did not know we had to send in midterm grades because my son had heard (word of mouth!) that Swat does not need it. They never contacted us, but I asked the question on CC and got my answer and then rushed it in!

Well, I emailed, and they said that they, due to the high volume of applications, couldn't check for me...so, I guess I'll try to call, although now is probably too late to send much in...
Thanks for your help.

Okay...I called again and they were happy to look my app up for me. I guess when I first emailed, it was still too early to have things on record (last week).
This process is making me worry entirely too much...
Thanks again

If I applied Fall Early Decision, do you think it's too late to call and ask if they have all of my application materials? I'm sure they've already made most of their decisions for ED already, but I am just very nervous about the whole thing.

I called and, just like everyone said on here, the person who answered the phone was happy to tell me...and that was last Wednesday, though I'm also Fall ED.

It would have been a little nice to be able to blame the postal service if I got rejected, but not being constantly worried is better in the long run. :)
...so yes, I'd say to call.

I really want to call, but I don't want to seem like a pest.... My high school recommends sending a stamped postcard with a checklist to every school you apply to, but I forgot to put one in my Swarthmore application. Is calling really a good thing?

They don't send you a postcard anyways, even if you include it (which I did). I'm sure that it made it, but it can only make you feel better if you call... and we all need a little stress relief right now!
