<p>My friend only got accepted to UCR and SJSU, major is psychology. He doesn't know which one he should choose.. Any suggestions/advice/comments would be really helpful!</p>
<p>A little background information would be nice. Will money be an issue? Will your friend be far away from family? Is your friend okay with living away from family? Do both schools have strong programs for friend’s major? What kind of school environment does your friend prefer? What are his plans when your friend attends the university? What are your friend’s plans after graduating from the university? Is psychology a passion or just a minor interest of your friend’s?</p>
<p>A lot of factors should be considered but I’m sure if your friend outlined them all, the factors will narrow down to the college he wants to go to.</p>
<p>One of my son’s friends attends UC Riverside. I think he likes it, but he does say a lot of kids go home on the weekends so he tends to do that too. I do know a professor who teaches there and he does say the quality of the teaching is excellent there however…

<p>UC riverside has some very educated professors from prestigious schools. Im not sure about the social life there though.</p>
<p>He’s from the Bay area, so SJSU is really close for him. Money isn’t really an issue, I don’t think… He said it’d be nice to save money by living at home, but it’s not a big issue for him to rent his own apartment or anything. I think psychology is just a temporary major for him. He’s unsure of his major/what he wants to do after graduation. The place he works at has a store in San Jose too and he thinks it’ll be convenient to just transfer stores instead of searching for another job. But he said that’s a terrible reason for choosing a school.</p>
<p>His other option is to stay a community college and apply again next year…? But this will be his third/fourth year at CC (not sure)?</p>
<p>I’d go to UCR. It’s quickly climbing the rankings, as far as academics go, and you can visit LA on the weekends. SJSU just sounds too close for him. Good luck to him!</p>
<p>JustinCalifornia, do you think UCR would beat the other UCs eventually? Not like UCLA, UCSD, UCB, but all the other ones?</p>
