I'm an international student. I notice that only one from my country is in this college. So might there be a visa problem?

ooooo… which country are you from?

I am an international student too

Olin has only just received permission to admit international students from the Immigrations Service and the Olin Board of Trustees. The class of 2011 has 3 or 4 international students out of the 80 or so in the class, which is a good start. I wouldn’t read too much into which counties they come from.

I’ve heard that in the Olin constitution, or charter, they have a cap on the number of international students that they will admit. But nothing particular about individual countries.

Olin wasn’t accredited until last year, so because of its non-accredited status, it was difficult to receive a student visa to come here. Now that we are accredited, international students can come to the school on student visas. The Class of 2011 is our first class with non-U.S. citizens. As far as I know, if your country allows you to attend an American college, then you can come to Olin.

Perhaps our good friend Miss Bahme can comment on the ratio of international students/overall class size?

i’m from china. it’s lucky to hear that because i’m class of 2013.

shspyc - Honestly, no need to read too closely into where our handful of international students come from! CuriousDad98 and kelliott are on the right track.

Our proportion of non-US citizens is limited to 5% of the total student body - that means, in any given year, no more than 4 or 5 non-US citizens will be admitted. We have no preference for particular countries or areas of the world! It just so happens that this Class of 2011 has students from China, Malaysia, Oman, Austria and Indonesia. Next year… who knows! :D

Hope that helps,
Allison

Visa has nothing to do with which school you will be enrolled in.

thanks for ur replys!
it must be very selective,so i just like competiveness!
