Have you cheated on a test

i distract people during tests by spinning my pen, and then their grades drop, and so the curve drops :D

Of course.

Not on tests, but I've copied homework and neglected to inform teachers when my grade is higher than it should be.

Zoa: Oh, I've copied HW, too. And usually if the teacher gives me extra points and I let them know, they're like "oh, my mistake; keep the points."

And yeah, Invoyable, I guess there are small things that might be considered cheating. Like the other day, I was taking a test and I heard other kids ask the teacher for help on certain questions and I definitely listened and changed my answers. I mean, the teacher was volunteering the info... but I wasn't the one who asked the questions, so do I have the right to take advantage of that information? I think so, but I guess there's a tiny bit of "cheating" in that. The only person who doesn't "cheat" at ALL, by your standards, is someone who takes every test alone in a room.

Cheating comes in many, many forms and in subtle ways that some of you may not think of as cheating. I find it hard to believe, and I'm 99.99% sure everyone's "cheated" a couple times, in some form and some less degree, let alone once in their lives.

Agreed .

I didn't make that claim nor did I imply such a thing. You've totally misunderstood my point. Never mind...why am I replying again?

On my math final this past year I wrote a formula I could never remember on my hand, but ended up remembering it on the test without having to look. That's the only time I have on a test. I'm the guilty type. :P

On homework I have taken all of my ideas for a paper off what someone posted online. I just took their main points and turned them into my own and used all of their sources....that's the closest I got anything else though. Maybe copying a friends work, but I go back and figure it out myself normally.

I cheated once on a test. In 4th grade I couldn't do long division. Never since then though. Once I had the answer sheet to a homework and i copied part of it, but i felt to guilty to copy all of it or do it again.

Uh, kinda. A few people and I discussed the first three questions on a 200-point test. That was it.

This is very common. If you write sth on your hand, you always remember it and dont need to look it.

I've copied homework a couple of times when I didn't realize there was a second section or something (never on writing homeworks, just like Spanish grammar sheets)...

Copying homework, but I do give out answers on tests.

Yeah, I don't actively prevent people from copying me.

If this thread degenerates into a FACILITATING CHEATING == CHEATING conversation, I won't participate. For the record, I disagree.

Why would you not actively prevent people cheating off of you? You are rewarding their indolence and making you look worse in relation to the rest of the class.

i remember once in 2nd grade. during a spelling test i asked the teacher "how do you spell HELP." she responded I cant tell you. now in second grade we used to have to put two folders up to prevent cheating so since the teacher couldnt see me i opened up my spelling book. ill prolly never forget that. since then i cheated on a 10th grade religion final and got caught. luckily the religion teacher was awesome so he just took my crib sheet and said ill pretend i never saw that.

Do you try to stop every little bad thing or incorrect thing out there, such as when you see someone litter do you go up to them and start screaming at them?

It seems like you should from your posts. Cheating isn't the worst thing in life and you don't have to go and try to prevent every little cheating actively. Get over it..

In my class ,students are always helping each other .There was a test, when the whole class has the same ,absolutely the same grades.
In 7th grade ,my english teacher at school was my private tutor too :D
She just gave me the test we were going to have tomorrow and i made about 20 copies of it and gave them to all my classmates..I dont think this was bad.

I have copied homework, definitely, and I've looked at tests from previous years when the teacher hands them back. They weren't the same answers, but identical problems with different numbers.

I did once in the 5th grade on an Italian quiz on colors... I haven't cheated since.

I've never cheated on a test, just because I rarely feel a need to, and when I do, I don't think of it. Plus, even jaywalking can make me feel guilty.
