It took a while but after much thought I have decided to attend Hotchkiss.

We were down to the wire between Governors Academy & Cushing Academy. We chose Cushing Academy. She would have been more than happy at both schools. Actually Governor’s was her first choice, however, as I was told on this board numerous times “love who loves you”. Cushing came through big time with with $, bells & whistles (Our income does not support the amount of aid we received). I love the academic support that they offer and the feel and culture was perfect for my daughter. While Governor’s had all of the things that we required in a school, fine & visual & performing arts, medium size school, distance from home etc. We found Cushing a better match for my daughter. We absolutely had a difficult and emotional decision but are extremely happy with the decision we made. We told our daughter that it is cheaper for her to go to school than it is for her to be at home. We are very excited!
It’s April 10th! Hope everyone still on the fence is able to make their decisions today!
My DD decided on Pomfret! It all came down to revisit days. We got a completely different vibe at Pomfret during our tour/interview. There was some confusion about tour guides, we waited for a while and then got a girl who seemed somewhat annoyed that she had to do it. Weren’t sure about the rural location either. But my daughter loved it on revisit day. She was deciding between Loomis and Pomfret. She thought the kids were friendlier and more inclusive at Pomfret, and the student/faculty relationships stronger. She liked the smaller student body size at Pomfret. Pomfret also seemed more interested in her (gave her a merit scholarship for all four years!). And she simply felt at home there. Which is all you can ask, right?
Go Big Green! My daughter will be going to Deerfield.
