Have you ever skipped school before?

I have a test over improper integrals and infinite series tomorrow. Should I skip school?

BTW I have never done it before. But have you ever been in a situation where it would be much better to skip school than turn in a project late, for example? It's happened to me many times, and I'm still a freshman. :(

I never skipped school… I feel that if you’re in BC as a Freshman, you’ve probably got your stuff together. Study now, and I bet you’ll do fine tomorrow.

I’ve skipped school because I don’t have stuff done. It can be a huge pain because of all the stuff for other classes that you’ll have to make up after, but if you feel it’s worth it to you in spite of that, then skip.

I’ve never skipped school because I didn’t have an assignment ready, however I was fond of mental health days when I was in IB.

Don’t skip school because of a test or a project. It’s just not worth the hassle to make it up. Just study now and get it over with.

In college, if you skip sometimes profs won’t let you make up the test unless you have a very well written doc’s note and a paper or something? In the age of email, there is no excuse for a late paper.

Yes I have skipped school, no, it was not to avoid a test or a project.
I agree with the first poster. Study a little and go to bed at a decent hour - I’m sure you’ll do fine. One test won’t determine your final grade completely anyway. :)

All the time. I’ve missed about 40 days this year, and only half have been becuse of illness (had bronchitis twice! this year.)

Yes, before I’ve missed just to get more time on a test, project, or paper. But this year, since it’s my senior year, I’ve just been ditching on days that I know the teacher wouldn’t be doing much.

My parents are okay with it as long as my grades are decent.
Most ridiculous excuse note my mom had to write: “Please excuse my daughter from all her classes on ____, she overslept.”

Don’t do it. Making up tests sucks, and then you get in the mindset that you can do that whenever you have an undesirable test/project. Study and go to bed early. You should be fine.

Mental health days, however, are another story. I usually take one a year, but most of my friends take around 5.

No, that’s kind of wimpy.

I’m planning on missing school during the days I don’t have exams during AP week, just because I have so many exams to take and I’d be better off spending my time studying on my own or getting some rest.

I’ve skipped, as in, I’ve stayed home fake sick, but I don’t think I ever did it on a test day. That just seems dishonorable. I couldn’t do that. I’ve never done it because I had late work either. I mean, all world history HW is done in class, physics HW has no due date, one can turn in any two chem assignments (other than labs) per quarter a day late, and there’s not really any HW in English.

I rarely take the whole day off sick. I usually just miss first bell, in WH, because, as aforementioned, we just do our HW in there and it doesn’t matter if I want to stay home and relax. In soph and junior year, I would take off the first three bells or so when I needed a mental health day. Once this year, I think, I took off the last two bells (study hall and orch), but I miss them a lot for doctor’s and dentist’s appt, and I don’t want my orch teacher to think I don’t care.

Don’t skip because of a test. You should take the test the same time as everyone else. You had the same amount of time to study as they did. How would you feel if one of your classmates skipped because they wanted more time to study, and then they got an A?

And the person who said if you skip you’ll feel like you get get away with it is also right. That’s especially bad if you’re a freshman like someone said.

Yep, my advice is to skip a class only when you wouldn’t be doing anything important in that class, and you have something better to do. I’ve never done it on a test day or anything important, just a few times when we have to watch a video or something like that.

at my school, if you miss more than 7 days of school, the teacher can deny you credit.

and apparently those 7 days include sick days, too…but i guess if you’re majorly ill then they might give you an exception…

I’ve never skipped school, but I’ve cut classes to complete other work.

“at my school, if you miss more than 7 days of school, the teacher can deny you credit.”

Really? My middle school did that too, except it was 40 days (which really is a lot…). If you missed a class 40 times, you automatically failed, excused or not (I imagine it could be overridden by the principal in extreme situations).

@Jessica Wow… do you go to a public school ? Ive missed over 30 days so far because ihate school

32 at my school.
16 for a semester class.

Unless you’re in a coma or something I guess.

7 days here too, or 21 tardies. (But I think that’s per marking period)
